The Best Pizza Recipe

Real Estate Agent with California Lifestyle Realty DRE# 1780607

Basic Pizza Dough Recipe

1 1/2 cups bread flour

1 teaspoon rapid rise yeast

1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon warm water…  120-130* or follow your yeast packet instru

2 teaspoons sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for coating

Mix flour + sugar+ salt in bowl.  Sprinkle yeast on top.  Heat water + olive oil in the microwave 1 min. or so until 120-130* and check it using a candy thermometer.  This is for rapid-rise yeast… if using standard yeast, follow the instructions on the packet.  The water will be much cooler for standard yeast.

Combine wet+ dry ingredients and stir until they form a dough ball.  Knead on a floured surface until the dough is elastic and feels stretchy and well combined… about 5 minutes.

Coat with the olive oil, along with the inside of a clean bowl and cover with plastic wrap.  Let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size.  Fold it over and gently punch down and make sure it still has oil.  Re-cover and refrigerate for the night.

You can use the dough after the first rise… but it will be better the next day.

Roll dough between parchment paper, (on the bottom) and plastic wrap (on the top) to desired thin-ness.  Remove plastic wrap , but leave it on the parchment.  Top with marinara, cheese, and whatever your favorite toppings are.  Place in oven on pizza stone at 400*+… or on the grill with or with out a stone.  The parchment will char on the fire or in the oven, but will easily release the pizza!  Enjoy!

I haven’t made a pizza since I worked at a pizza joint way back in…. well, let’s just say a long time ago. With so many good pizza joints within five miles of me, I’m not going to start making pizzas again at this point in my life. J
