I was just reading how Judi Barrett's clever cat, Cucu, was now blogging and I thought.... What would I do without my pets? We have one dog (The Princess Dog) and two cats. Of course, I do realize that WE HAVE nothing. THEY have us!
Ashley has been a member of the family since 1995, She is TPM's kitty, sitting with her in her chair and keeping her company. She is the eldest pet and quietly RULES!
We kat-napped Kiki from El Chico some time around 2002. She was a wild kitten living underneath the trash dumpster. Every day when Rick would go out back, she would talk to him, but never let him near her. He began to bring her dry food and drop it on the ground as he walked the exterior of the building. Soon she would get close to him and walk with him. That's when he nabbed her. She escaped captivity when I got her home and lived in our garage for about a month-- where we hand fed her pieces of turkey until we could snatch her up again.
Kiki was moved to the half bath (no place to hide) for another month, I spent hours on the floor, holding her and loving on her. Finally she was ready to move upstairs to the office. At this time, we had two chows, Stormy and Sheba, PLUS Ashley.
Kiki lived in the office for another month and then she was released to terrorize the chows. This cat can hold her own. Actually they all get along pretty well... but she DID scare Sheba so bad once, that she ran upstairs, jumped in the tub and hid behind the shower curtain. Kiki was just a tiny kitten! Chow worldwide would be mortified to hear of this! ☺
We lost Sheba in 2005 and it took us two years to decide to get Zsa Zsa.
I thought that I was being super cute by naming her Zsa Zsa -- after the lady who played on Green Acres. You know... Hooterville (Riverside, Population 425), etc.
About 4 months after we had her someone informed me that it was AVA that played that part. Oh well... too late! She's Zsa Zsa ~! The Princess Dog!
Zsa Zsa came along when my father was in the hospital and dying. She traveled to and from the center to visit Dad, bringing him and the other residents joy!
It was as if she knew to be sweet with the residents and that TPM needed her to be her companion.
She's all grown up now and not very little, but still partial to my mom. Oh how Zsa Zsa has helped us through those hard times. We lost Stormy this past July. Maybe in a few years we will be ready for another. Until then, We are thankful for those that have us!
Thank you Lord for my pets! Help me to love them and take good care of them as you have entrusted them to my care!
