Another Fortune 500 Company, SPX Committed to Expand, Creating 180 New Jobs in Charlotte NC

SPX - Bridging the Gap Between Industry & TechnologyCharlotte NC Job Update:  NC Governor, Beverly Perdue, announced today that SPX Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, plans to invest $70 million to expand its operations and global headquarters in Charlotte, resulting in the creation of 180 new jobs in NC over the next five years.  SPX is a leading provider of engineered products and technologies to customers in global energy infrastructure, processing equipment which serves the food and beverage industry, and diagnostic tools for vehicle servicing and repair.  SPX Corporation has operations in more than 35 countries.

“SPX is proud to call North Carolina home, and we remain committed to growing our global manufacturing business so we can continue to make valued contributions to the economy of this great state and a lasting, positive impact on the communities in which so many of our employees work and live,” said SPX Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Christopher J. Kearney. “We are extremely grateful to the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Governor Perdue and her staff, Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx, and the Mecklenburg County Commission for their invaluable assistance and support of SPX’s future expansion plans."

SPX will be moving into a new global headquarters building in Ballantyne Corporate Park in South Charlotte.  This new headquarters will house the current 252 employees as well as an additional 180 new positions. SPX plans to move into a newly constructed office building in Ballantyne Corporate Park by the end of 2012.   The overall average wage for these new positions is expected to be $82,917 a year, not including benefits.

“Today we celebrate as SPX sinks its roots deeper into our community by deciding to expand the company’s global headquarters in Charlotte,” said Mayor Anthony Foxx.  “This decision makes sense.  Charlotte has a highly skilled workforce, an affordable cost of living and our airport is the gateway to the world.  We look forward to SPX’s continued growth and engagement in the Charlotte community.”

Thanks to the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce for proactively bringing more industry to the Charlotte Metro area and we welcome SPX's new employees to the Charlotte region - You're going to love it here!  If you're searching for more information on the Ballantyne area, visit our website at www.iCharlotteRealEstate.com.

That is great news... I firmly believe that cutting unemployment down, creating PERMANANT jobs for people is the only way the housing market can truly recover! If people are in fear of losing their jobs in this economy and not confident that they can find a replacement job that offers around the same salary as what they where being paid before they are not going to be buying a house anytime soon.

Thanks for your comments, everyone!  We are very fortunate to have a proactive, forward-thinking Chamber of Commerce and City Council.  They actively seek new business and offer incentives to procure new business for the Charlotte Metro area.  We continue to be a strong competitor in selling our city to Fortune 500 companies!
