Fine Tuning Your Real Estate SEO

By
Real Estate Technology with Real Estate Technology and Marketing

So the first thing you're probably thinking is: "Oh great, another SEO topic from Rob..." but the fact is, that good SEO is the only thing separating you from the competition when it comes to the search engines. I promise that everything I write is useful information, so please don't shy away just because it's another SEO topic.

If you created your real estate website a few years or even just months ago, it's time to make some changes and update it. Google changes its algorithms frequently, and SEO techniques that worked last year may not be as effective today.

Here are some ideas you may want to pursue regarding updating your real estate website's SEO-

Are you paying close attention to your site's meta title tags? You never want "home" or "listings" to appear in the url of a page on your site. Instead, you'll want something along the lines of "Anaheim homes for sale" or "Finding King of Prussia homes."

In fact, you have 64 characters to use in your meta title tags, so use them wisely. Try using the following "recipe:" three keywords, your city, another couple of keywords and then another city. So your meta tag for one of your pages could be something similar to: "Affordable townhomes condos Collegeville | buy homes | Schwenksville."

Regarding your pages' content, get your keywords in your headline and within the first 150 words of text. Use your location in the keywords. Be sure to have at least one link on each page of your site to another page within your site.

Another change is the fact that keywords in your url now matter, so try to place your keywords in your pages' urls. If you've a site that's a few years old, don't go changing to a new url for your business; search crawlers actually prefer older sites to newer ones. But if you don't have your own real estate site (you're using a template site provided by your realty firm, for example), and you decide to get one of your own, try hard to get keywords in your new site's url.

Make sure your address and phone number is on every page within your site, including your home page. Try to get your site listed in as many local directories (your local chamber of commerce or newspaper, etc) as possible.
