It may seem a bit intimidating to be judged by others in any part of your life- be it professionally, personally or academically. But the truth is, you will be judged by everyone you meet. It is really up to you how you want them to see you. And when it comes to professionally, judgement and the evaluation of your hard work should be expected, or else nobody would put any effort into their job.
Real estate professionals now have to worry about being judged by online websites where past clients can go on and rate their real estate agent. I wouldn't worry if you give outstanding service and always answer your phone calls and emails in a timely matter. But if you are an agent that does a mediocre job and provides your client with substandard service, beware. Customers now have a way to vent about you in a way that can be seen by millions of potential clients!
I see these rating websites as a way for A) the client to do their agent justice and make sure everyone knows what a good job you did and how helpful you were in buying/selling them a house, or B) to make sure everyone knows how awful your service was and makes sure you can never sell real estate in your town again! This will definitely keep us on our toes and provide a way for sellers and buyers to judge us based on our performance. And why not? They are out boss' after all- every client we help is in charge and we have to do what they want while also letting them know what is in their best interest- with a smile!
SO just remember, the next time you don't want to go out and show your client condos for the day, or you don't answer your phone for a week because you went on vacation and left a ton of paperwork left to be unsigned and unsent- you WILL be rated and it WON'T be good!!!
