PEOPLE: SMELL ANYTHING FUNNY? GOVERNMENT: WE DONT SMELL ANYTHING..

I am reading former President Bushes book "Decision Points. The chapter on 9-11 is an engaging story on the events from the Presidents view point. Of course it is missing quite a lot of data because of National Security, but reads well enough...The President comments on the foreclosure debacle and the financial meltdown

THE MOST POWERFUL MAN ON THE PLANET EXPLAINS HE WAS POWERLESS

He blames what happened mostly on Wall Street and the lack of governmental supervision by the financial regulators. I mean there is a pattern forming here with LACK of government responsibilities..

JUST WHAT DO ALL THESE AGENCIES DO...?

We have read and have heard on how before 9-11, we had intelligence to forewarn us...but the different agencies did not communicate effectively. Now, President Bush shares we how regulation failed to do its job and stop Wall Street from cleaning all our financial clocks.....

DON'T WORRY...WE HAVE A EMERGENCY PLAN IN PLACE

FEMA had a chance to show us what can be done when we have emergencies.....absolutely chaos and little or no action. President Bush shares he was very disappointed on his responses for this National emergency. It sounds so grand too...Federal Emergency Management Agency...can even manage itself....

NO WONDER PEOPLE WONDER

If you study up on the Pearl Harbor invasion, there is much evidence introduced to show you that we had warning and knowledge ahead of time. Many concluded that we wanted to go to war to stimulate the economy and let this happen to rally the people....Does this sound familiar...?

SECRET SERVICE KEEPS SECRETS FROM EVEN THEMSELVES

I read the Warren report on the assassination of President Kennedy. You find out that the Secret Service is inept, untrained and you wonder what they did all day...? Oswald wondered that too...successfully.

WHO IS IN CHARGE...I JUST WANT TO SPEAK WITH THEM

Has this country become too big to be properly managed...? Are we our worst enemies....? How long can this go on? Why is there resistance to the change that we need the most...? At the root of it all, I fear money and power at work and not for WE THE PEOPLE either.....

THE SAUDI ARABIANS PROVIDE FREE HEALTH-CARE

Affordable health care continues to allude us while millions go without and suffer... Why is that? The lobbyists for this spend hundreds of millions to keep it the way it is...That means money is the root of all this and the caring of people and their needs second....Shame Shame

HEY....LETS MAKE TROUBLE WHERE THERE IS NONE...why?

Everyone once in a while, someone wants to play with Social Security. I learned that 2/3 of the United States relies on some sort of financial assistance. To survive exclusively on Social Security, one must give in to poverty and living a lesser life. Wanting to reduce or modify that would cause dispersion and panic within our Nation...

Former President Harry Truman...told the truth about politics, Washington and our leaders. This truth holds up even unto today....he said...

'"IF YOU WANT A FRIEND IN WASHINGTON....GET A DOG"

Well someone took it literally and the place is full of dogs...the human kind and they are running around all over eating, drinking, perking, benefiting, and making merry while the country goes to hell in a hand-basket....

I'm on your side here, Richie. And I'm not sure how to get this country back on the right track. Politics seems to thrive on eating its own organs.

Richie,

Well said. The President is nothing more than the position of top of the totem pole.

Until the goverment starts listening to the people (not Lobbyist) then things will never ever change.

Enjoy the day

This is all revealed at a time when the Federal government is trying to take control over every facet of our lives. Just what we don't need, or want!

Glenn...I have never heard it put that way...but it just makes sense when you hear it......Good comment

Don.....your comment shines a light on one of the biggest problems....the LOBBYIST.... My son met a 30 plus year veteran lobbyist that was for hire in Washington. This guy good take any side and present it like a speeding train with no stops....while shaking your hand and buying you a $200 lunch.....You never knew what hit you if you if you were standing in front of the train and...... if you board, you came and went and didn't know where...whew! This is one powerful entity.....lobbying

Jon....Things are not what they appear to be.....The president is the most powerful man in the world, but cannot make a bank conform to rules and regs.....I smell fish

Richie: Great subject matter here--I agree with Glenn above agout politicians eating their organs--only I see it as them eating their "young"...of course refering to the way the next generations are the ones who will suffer the most!!My own opinion: We will never see changes in Washington until we the people rise up..there is no other way! We see the reaction right now to the poor people suffering while their homes decrease in value and some even walk away or give up and short sell!! We watch as the banks "diddle" away with the homeowners who are begging (and I mean begging on bended knee!!!) for help with modifications so they can go on with their lives...and NOTHING is getting done! We watch a few try to get the ship righted and get shot down! This is the 11th hour and I don't think the "powers that be" even have a clue!!! Unfortunately there are very angry people out there who may take action--I only hope it is effective, organized action that WILL help RIGHT THIS SHIP before it sinks. Thanks Richie for a stimulating topic and very important post!

Paula....your the best and your comment is like a flag for the cause......Right now, testimony along the lines of my post and your comment is before Congress. It reminds me of the cliche....The operation was a success, but the patient died....By the time Congress responds to this obvious injustice, millions were taken out......millions..thank you Paula.

Richie,

It's hard not to become disillusioned with the government considering the spectacular failures at all levels. I think they make it too complicated sometimes, as evidenced by the recent fiasco in the Gulf of Mexico. You can't be all things to all people, sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness, than to ask for permission.

Richie, this calamity will never correct itself even though the best intentions were implemented.  Government does not allow for the cooperative effort between agencies.  This is seen in all levels of governing bodies.  Take away the term "jurisdiction" and we may have a chance at streamlining a much more effective response to all that ails us.  Even a President can be sold a worthless bill of goods at times.

Rich...my pal...I like your statement....That's what a lot of people are saying around the world. The CIA does things we do not know about, but it does bother lots of people around the globe while they do it. OH, we are feared...but respected...? I don't know. I do know that asking forgiveness is a good thing and allows for a fresh start.....Problem is, when someone admits an error, the attorneys start the lawsuit engines....

Kevin...Wow...the word Jurisdiction is a pretty powerful one.....Well said. Are we so big that we now stumble instead of walking tall..? Perhaps we need a good chiropractor and a new pair of shoes.....Remember all the "feel good" when Obama was elected...? It is all gone and we are back to where we started.....Same tune, different singer....

Richie, that is why Willie the Labradoodle is an important part of my life!  Haven't read Bush's book yet, but does he talk about who was at the helm while all this stuff was happening?

Ernie....i want to stir your innards, but don't think too hard either....just realize that there are things going on that people (ordinary) that are outside the loop will not know. THINK: A cooks line in any restaurant. All you see is the plate of food you ordered....there is much more going in the kitchen than that.....
