I love William Shatner and the new show he is doing that is  spin off from a Twitter account.  I'm always shocked when people have thousands of "friends"  I enjoy having just my real friends on my profile and could use getting rid of a few more and may take today to do that:)

Yes Jim, They are NOT your friend.  I wonder how many of the people that have thousands of friends are actually hidden by almost all of them off their wall.

Don, Isn't it great to not be connected on Facebook with anyone that isn't your friend.  I didn't let go of anyone either because I am very strict with my facebook personal profile.  I direct the friend request from strangers to go to my fanpage if they want to connect.

Missed it.

I have a business page or two.  I wonder if anyone unfriended my profile....  I was helping a friend (a real live friend) do a Facebook Group last night... we were sitting next to one another at the computer in the office, I said I think I have 500 friends... but they are not "friends.."

Maureen, like Jimmy Kimmel said; there is not way someone can have 500 friends.  Even back in the old days of have a sphere no one ever suggested trying to cultivate a close group of 3000.  Was there a reason for a group page instead of a fanpage?  You may want to be careful because if it get big Facebook can take it over.

We did a group because it is not a business, she is helping a family member reach a goal.  I know they can take over a Page that is not your business if it gets too popular.  Can they take over a Group?  Another friend in the office last night thought I should be setting it up as a Fan Page but it is not a community, a business, an artist.

My most popular page has 430 +/- fans, no chance of Facebook taking it over.

Yeah Maureen, My pages are in no jeopardy of being taken over by Facebook anytime real soon either:) The benefit of a group is that you can email all the members of the group and with fanpage you can not send an email to everyone.  It's actually a community page (under business page tab) that they will take if it isn't your business or gets too popular.  Fanpage is the way to go for real estate agents but depending on the purpose of what your friend is doing a group may work better so they can contact the member.  You can also make people (and they can make you) a member of a group without having to get them to join.

Can I say here that I really don't get Facebook... will I remember you can email from a group?  I better tell Judi Anderson and Eric Eckert and my other office friends that.  Eric is embracing Facebook and it is probably a great fit for him.

I helped Judi put her avatar up Thursday night because really can you ask friends to join a group on Facebook if you are faceless?  Eric took the photo of Judi that we used for her avatar on Facebook.  I need him to take a photo of me.  Or Judi.  It was her camera and she is a good photographer, I dragged her to a blogging event but forgot to tell her to bring her camera so she used mine.

I guess I have never started a group before because I was surprised that we could make people in our office members but we did.  Then we were afraid they'd think "huh?" because we are not a Facebook savvy office.  And we made  Judi's daughter-in-law and some friends members of the group. We made some retirees from our office group members... our office skews kind of old.   She has gotten an official response to the goal of our group, I think it took less than 24 hours.

My real estate pages... I think the one with the most "fans" has 28 people.  No chance FB will take it over.  The page with 430 +/_ is a community page I followed the Dale Chumbley "365 things to do"  model, but in a Roost webinar recently I  would do the Facebook part differently if I could.   I absolutley hate it though, I have an aversion to "Things to do" posts.

Hi Sheri,

As we have discussed, it's important to set-up a business page. However, be weary of who one hires to take care of the set-up.  There could be consequences for the wrong decision.
