Did you know that the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary is right here in McKinney. It is located near Highway 5 and Country Club Rd in Northeast McKinney.
Next week, if you aren't headed out of town, would be a great time to get the kids out of the house and take advantage of Dinosaurs Live!
What is Dinosaurs Live? Encounter the ever-popular 46-foot T-Rex and eight new life-size animatronic dinosaurs along nature trails. The exhibit always gives families and friends a fun, educational activity to enjoy together and a unique family outing during the holidays! Visitors can even schedule guided tours.
See all nine dinosaurs of Dinosaurs Live! move and hear them roar! Families will enjoy capturing memories as they pose with photo op dinosaurs along the trail. The Dinosaurs Live! trail is jogging-stroller friendly.
Dinosaurs Live will be on display until January 31st.
Another popular exhibit you can visit is BUGS! What is BUGS? The exhibit features more than twenty-five species of invertebrates including ants, scorpions, mantises and dozens of others from the world of itsy-bitsy, creepy-crawly and sluggy-buggy. BUGS is truly a "bug zoo" showcasing live arthropods both native and exotic. Staged in Mayan Ruins, this exhibit perfectly highlights the particular influence of bugs on human culture. Whether you love bugs or hate them, you'll find these creatures fascinating. Investigate what you have heard about the invertebrate world by exploring such creatures as giant beetles, checkered cockroaches and enormous stick insects.
BUGS will be on display until May 15th.
It is a great way to spend a day and educational to boot!
