As Thanksgiving approaches next week it is the normal time to stop, reflect and give thanks. I try to do this throughout the year but this time of year is an especially good time to reflect on the past and then look forward and plan for the future.
I am blessed in many ways as I have a great wife and family. My wife has been at my side for the better part of 31 years now. And I still remember kissing her in front of her parents and grandparents for the first time then she couldn't remember my name when asked by her father. All my children have grown up to be leaders in their own right and all are active in their churches and are passing the faith along. I've been blessed with the ability to do things I like to do and make a living at the same time. I have enjoyed the job with Rockwell Automation that I've had for almost 16 years now and I've enjoyed and been blessed to be able to practice real estate for the last 11 years here in the Joplin area. Since 2003 the people of Carl Junction have blessed me with allowing me to represent Ward 2 on the City Council. What I've been most blessed with of late though is being able to get out and minister in song again and share Christ with people. Singing bass in a group since about June of this year we've been able to go in and sing where a lot of groups can't because of expenses and such. Two weeks ago we were blessed with the greatest gift of all when someone asked Christ to come into their life after one of our concerts. Its been a really good year and I'm looking for an even better 2011.
This week Ginger and I will have a lot of our family over for Thanksgiving and it will be a great time of food and fellowship. Thanksgiving is deeper than that though so I just wanted to take a moment to give thanks for all God has blessed me with. I really hop that all of you have a great Thanksgiving this week.
