The 70's were a great decade for many of us. Can you say "Disco"? How about "love the water-bed". But when selling a house the 70's is not the best "flash from the past". This townhome in Rosemount, MN got a quick ride on a time machine so it can now compete for a modern 2010 buyer.
Selling a home is competitive and your buyer needs to see themselves living in THIS decade.

Also love the transformation, but wondering how you convinced the homeowners to ditch their furniture and rent (buy?) new? It's something I don't dare suggest to my clients, and so far we've managed with slipcovers, throws, new pillows, etc.
Amy, there are many times I work with what the owner has, trust me. In this case the homeowner wasn't living in the house anymore so 1) I could offer to bring in my own inventory to update it (I don't let people actually use my furniture otherwise I refer them to a rental agency) and 2) the Realtor was helpful in telling them she agreed with me that the house needed some updating and some pizazz since it was a bachelor pad.

HI Shar, I think my family has had every one of those '70's decorating items at least once! We do seem to get our share of '70's and 80's decorating around here as well. You really brought the property up to date and created a very appealing look right out of any current magazine. Well done! Now we just have to convince the next homeowner why puffy couches are a no no. It is amazing how many of those are still being sold. My latest one was purple. Very purple!!! A purple people eater if ever there was one.
Wonderful! We should show these photos to our clients when they think their old furniture is fine and let them decide if it might show better with some new pieces!
