Motivational Power Quote

Character Is a Result of Our Habits

"Our character is basically a composite of our habits.

because they are consistent, often unconscious patterns,

they constantly, daily, express our character."

Stephen R. Covey, author

As I see it. . . . . . . .

Character is a result of our habits

Whatever we consistently do, will become a habit and our habits become the foundation of our character.

Our character is formed in our habits and we demonstrate our character through our daily actions.

To form a strong character we have to develop the habits of the type people that we want to be like. Our character becomes ingrained into our personally and becomes a way of life. We will routinely demonstrate our character in behavior without a conscious thought because they have been ingrained into our sub-conscious mind.

A person lives their character as part of their moral fiber and their character becomes their calling card. People can't fake character, a person will either have it or they won't.

Our character is a result of our habits and habits will be formed by our choices. A person is a reflection of their character and their actions are a mirror image of their character.

Nice reminder.  Nice quote.  At our age though -- I think you are preaching to the converted or unconverted.  People have already picked their side.  Thanks for the reinforcement though.

Lou, Everything experienced from the past does makes us who we are. To me a person of character is multifaceted and holds a lot of interest.

Lou - The context of Dr Covey's quote is an important component here.  While it is open to agrument that habit and character have a similar genesis, effectiveness is the focus ofsuggested habits and the context of his dialog.  I have taken the liberty of providing a link to an online resource outlining each of the seven habits he proposes.  I'm sure that folks will recognize many of them as they read.  Lou, as usual, thanks so much for getting me to really think about professional life issues ... You are priceless!

Indeed. Character is the most important asset that we have. Either we will build a good one, or dvelop a bad one. Which one we choose, determines how we are seen by others.

I concur Lou! Sometimes, I feel that others may view ones character incorrectly at times too...

Lou, I have never thought of "character" in that way... but it makes sense.
