For years I have always made homemade cranberry sauce...whether we are home or travelling everyone always looks forward to the very berry best cranberry sauce...

its so easy...

Boil together 1 1/2 cups of sugar with 1 cup  liquid (orange juice, cider, apple juice, cranberry juice or water ...or mix it up)

Add 1 package fresh washed cranberries

Boil till the skins pop (its quick)

Add raisins, 1 tsp cloves, 1 tsp ginger and simmer till thickens...

I like to add little pieces of orange.

Double the recipe and take some to Grandma's...

Make it ahead of time and refrigerate.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sounds nice, but I prefer the jellied Ocean Spray cranberries that come out in the shape of a tin can, with the little ribs impressed in the sides of the cranberries..it's a family tradition in our household to spend as little effort as possible on the cranberry part of the meal.

Eric, I understand...the lines are on the jellied kind so you know where to cut it!  We serve both...but the homemade dish is usually empty..Happy Thanksgiving.

Homemade is always best Rene!  I'm going to try it with a cook-able sugar substitute this year (ahead of time in case it's a complete disaster).  And in my area of NJ, you can harvest your own cranberries!

Laura, I tried it with all Splenda...didn't like it...I made it again with 1/2 splenda 1/2 sugar...that was perfect...I think this week I'm going to try 1/3 sugar and 2/3 splenda...should be good...
