A New Challenge - Day 1

By
Home Stager

This is going to sound terrible, but over the years I've grown to HATE the Christmas holiday season.  The reasons are too numerous to mention and they're irrelevant because I've decided this year I'm going tp change all that.

I'm putting myself up to another Challenge.  I'm hoping it will snap me out of the funk I've been in lately and get me back into the routine of blogging daily.  My super star friends Tish Lloyd, Melissa McKinney, BLiz Spear, Margaret Rome and many others have managed to maintain their commitment to blogging DAILY, but I just couldn't keep up thank youthe momentum and I really need to get it back!

I recently learned about The Be Thankful Challenge but came a little late to the party.  This Challenge is supposed to go through the month of November until Thanksgiving, with a post each day about  something or someone to be thankful for.

I LOVE this idea, so I decided to put my own twist on it and take it from Thanksgiving to New Years day.  I will post something each day that states something I'm thankful for, but I'm going to try to keep it mostly business related (we'll see how that goes).  Hopefully this attitude of gratitude will give me a renewed appreciation for what should be a joyful time of year.

Today is Day 1 of my Be Thankful Challenge and I will start by expressing my gratitude for my sweet friend Joni Staples.  I found out about the Be Thankful Challenge because of Joni. Reading her beautiful posts about the people and things she is thankful for has motivated me to take the time do the same.  Thank you so much Joni - you are an inspiration to me and to so many others!  I'm so glad the last challenge brought us together.  You are an angel!

The last 30 Day Blogging Challenge got very interesting when I invited others to join me - I was fortunate to meet sooooo many wonderful people!  The whole thing took on a life of its own!  Naturally, as I take on this new challenge, I just have to ask ...  Would YOU care to join me in my Be Thankful Challenge?   No points, no t-shirts, (unless of course Kerrie wants to cook something up) just gratitude BECAUSE....

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.

It turns what we have into enough, and more.

It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.

It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.

Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.

~Melody Beattie, best selling author and journalist

I do hope you'll join me!  And if you're already doing it, please tell me about it.

Karen: Cheers to your resolve to apply yourself to developing your business through blogging. I might offer this observation however, I haven't seen that a disclosed dedication to dedicated blogging always produces blogs that captivate. It seems to produce at times a number of mediocre posts detailing how this is say, day 36 of the sixty day challenge, today the sun shone and I was happy, super busy today just wanted to get this out before I go to bed variety of output. I applaud the Be Thankful challenge however and enjoy reading many of the posts produced as a result of this collaborative effort. Best of luck to you!

Karen, as with your 30 in 30, didn't join the challenge cuase I couldn't keep up, but it definitely inspired me to blog more often.  Love the idea of a thankfulness challenge.  I'll do my best to join, but don't know if I'll manage to produce daily.  Not because I don't have enough to be thankful for, but because I can't always manage to get it in.

Karen I am thankful that you keep coming up with these challenges that some how makes me come up with ideas of what to blog about like a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat. But isn't it too late to join? Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Great post.

Ok Karen,  I just can't let my friends go it alone!  I will join you and I am also going to start my own little challenge effective December 1st.  I want to concentrate on a specific part of my business - short sales so I plan to do a post a day for 30 days on some aspect or another of a short sale.  I'll send this out too like you have and hope you can join me on my quest!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Positive thinking is contagious and beneficial. Of course, we still need to be grounded in the real world. Thanks for sharing!

Karen, I am in the habit of when I sign into the MLS, I close my eyes for a second and acknowledge something I am thankful for.  Now you realize, this happens several times a day!  It really helps to keep my spirits up.

Right now I am thankful for the call I received a few minutes ago from an agent letting me know that she is going to email me an offer on one of my listings.

Karen, I was just thinking, you might hate Christmas for the same reasons I wrote about a few days ago:

Karen, and you will find gratitude is a key trait of happiness. Who could not use a bit more of happiness? it is easy to hate holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas but truly I think when that happens you are missing out on the simplicity of the meaning of the days and whether due to commercialization or a loved one is not around for you on those days it is easy to get bummed out. QUITE OK by the way. Get back to the simplicity of the message and be grateful and you will be good to go with your happiness AND your daily blogging.

I think its helpful to make a list every day of at least 3 things we're thankful for and not duplicate from day to day. Very soon it will be very evident all the things we're thankful for.

Karen:  I'm kinda thinking that there should NOT be points attached to this challenge.  The thought here is to be thankful for all we have... not trying to come up with a way to get more "points."  So, this time, I vote "no" on the points thingie.

So, here's an obvious reason to be thankful:  For having folks like yourself that I have met online, and who have been generous enough to share part of themselves with me.  Just one small reason to be Thankful.
