Does Your Image Need A Make-over?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Missy Caulk TEAM

Last night I was flipping channels back and forth from the American Music Awards and.......(your guess)

Recently I bought Taylor Swifts new CD, Speak Now (which I love). When Taylor Swift came on to perform....I should say came down...from the stage on a piano singing my favorite song (Back to December) I was excited my channel flipping worked.

Taylor Swift new lookRegardless she had a brand new look, long straight hair, different tone and looked amazing.

But, her Voice was just as amazing.

So what does this have to do with Real Estate?

I mean this is a real estate community right? And we know if we post on religion or politics we get nasty comments. LOL

Taylor had a new look.

Does your blog or web-site need a new look?

Now is the time of year, as we are looking at our marketing in 2010, business plans and reflecting back on what worked, what didn't, what we can cut from our budgets, what we can add to.

Do we our blogs need a make-over?

Do our headers?

Does our web-site?

Are you thinking about changing your image?

I am.

You see, Taylor Swift changed her image but not her voice, or her music.

Sidebar:

When I got home from NAR, I couldn't find my glasses, looked and looked and looked. Since it was time for a Eye Dr. appointment anyway, I went ahead and changed the frame style.

After going through all of this hassel, dragging my daughter around, taking photos of me in different frames, agonizing, deciding, ordering....I found the old ones...in my brief case.

Now who puts glasses in a brief case? (my dog had jumped up and chewed them up, popped a lense out. Since many of my blogging buddies know me by those gosh darn glasses, and they couldn't get fixed before RainCamp, I threw them in my suitcase.

Changing your image, is not changing your Voice or who you are.

Re-Evaluating your online presense can be good.

Missy, my tech support guy (the husband) is currently remodeling my web site. And I am planning a new advertising picture and slogan. Getting stale is for bread.

I still like it when I look in the NEWSPAPER and see agent's photos from more than a decade ago.  What do their clients think when they actually meet them?  hmmmm

I usually plan for a major make over every two years with smaller updates in between.  To date I think I have started each of my blogs during the slow time over the holidays.  That is also when I learn new things. I read books, take classes etc.

I did not actually know if it WAS her she looked so different.

Keeping it fresh is always a good idea.  But maybe not too much of a change that we lose our branding.

I am about to embark on a new (2011) campaign, and would like to relocate my website from a traditional RealPages template style - to a sleek, efficient and cost effective Word Press. Does anyone know any good hosts for WP sites??

Many people use and like Blue Host if you are just looking for a self hosted company. If you want someone to design or create a custom site for you, I recommend 210 Consulting, Jeremy Blanton or Dakno.

Missy - I had no clue that Taylor changed her looks - I wish I had her hair :) - I needed a makeover for my AR blog, outside blog and WP Blog (header) and love the look now, thanks to Inna and Jon.  I also learned a lot from Katerina's SEO Bootcamp class when it comes to creating or changing my website/blog.  AR is such a great platform of learning, growing and friendship.

Missy -

I haven't been here in awhile and was inspired by two of your posts now. I am completing a new website makeover; hopefully live in a few weeks. I am also changing my blog and my hair. I have two pair of glasses for now, so need there. Can't wait to see a picture of you in your glasses! Thansk for being an encouragement!

Missy, great reminder - everything needs a change once in a while, even if it looks good at the moment. If people are too used to the look - they overlook, hence our blogs and websites need face lifts!

I like Taylor better with straight hair. I just colored my hair blond. "blonds sell more real estate", right?
