I didn't plan to go shopping Black Friday but after I read Deborah's post, I changed my mind and already know where I will stop by and exchange worm wishes. I think it is brilliant idea to shop at local boutiques and support our local businesses.

Happy Holiday Season to y'all!

It is nearly here...the Black Friday sales are already starting to be leaked to the public....

But have you considered supporting your local boutique businesses?

What about attending an art show or craft fair?   There are plenty happening now.

Or what about that boutique up the street?  That is locally owned.

I love shopping the Black Friday sales in Nampa Idaho....but this year I will have a different approach...I may go out early to get some shopping done in the chain stores...but I plan to really seek out the shops that have one of a kind personal gifts!

I love to recieve this type of a gift and more importantly I will be supporting a local Made in Idaho/USA product!

And if you don't have boutiques such as these what about shopping on www.etsy.com   Plenty of hand crafted one of a kinds gifts here!  Do your shopping in your jammies!

I challenge you to do your shopping in these types of stores...I will be highlighting a few of these in my upcoming blogs!!!

We will shop mostly in our town...although it may be at any store as the manager and employees are local residents...and I believe all profits leave town...whether it is the local owner taking a vacation or buying a summer or winter home somewhere or the big box stores taking the profit to their headquarters.

Jeff, thanks for your support.

Mike, at least local small business owners make a decision where to spend their profit and do not have to send it mandatory to some headquarters. Happy Holiday season to you.

Anna -- I like shopping at local shops and have also gotten some "groupons" this year that look like they'll make excellent gifts for my kids!

Janice, Idon't know if you woudl want to be at the store @ 4 AM. This year Wal-Mart had something that I wanted to buy for my daughter. I came at 10AM but the item was sold out at 6:30.

Maureen, 'groupons' offering great values. I should check on it too.

As a former small town business owner I can tell you they will appreciate it immensely! The first year we owned our store, the hubs was hosting a holiday party at work, and was going shopping for door prizes, drawings, etc.  That was the first time we DIDN'T drive to the city to get "the best deal". We had a little epiphany, and  he shopped locally, supported our friends and neighbors, and surprised a lot of small business owners in our town that he was not asking for a donation,( he's a school guy) but spending money!  It is tough enough to make a go of it, in small towns, without locals leaving town! Spend on! =o)
