EGADS! WHAT IS UNDER THAT RUG?
No, I am not talking about that rug on your head (snicker, snicker!), I am referring to that lovely rug your Seller's placed over the rotten and torn up wood floor!
Unfortunately there are a lot of homes out there that upon first walk-through look lovely indeed. However, upon a little further inspection some hidden realities may often frighten even the most hardened of clients!
Don't be afraid to allow that potential buyer to lift up a floor rug! Just don't overturn an expensive vase or lamp in the process mind you!
If your clients have narrowed down their list of homes, now is the time to talk turkey! Get down on your hands and knees and take a look at some basic things such as baseboards, flooring under rugs, door jambs, etc.
I have seen some pretty amazing finds when lifting up that rug! It pays to be nosey in these instances and your clients will be glad you insisted!
I am certainly NOT saying to forgo the Inspector, just do a little due diligence BEFORE making that offer.
Hopefully your rug lifting will result in nothing more than finding a cute Weiner dog like my little guy Jack in the photo above!
