More From Woodstock Illinois

I'm back now at the Woodstock Public Library trying to keep up with posting and commenting.

  Woodstock Public Library

We had a little bit of weather here last night with a tornado touching down in Harvard Illinois (next to Woodstock) and other areas sustaining some major damage, but all is well here.  I got my first dose of winter weather this morning as temps dipped into the twenties where they remain.

The Woodstock Public Library is just off the Woodstock Square so I thought I'd post a few photos of the square as it has an interesting and historic past.

Historic Woodstock Square

Below is the Woodstock Opera House.  It was seen in the movie Groundhog Day and also was the venue for some of Orson Welles' first performances.  Orson Welles attended school in Woodstock in his youth.

Below a plaque on the sidewalk at the curb commemorates where Bill Murray stepped off and into a puddle in the movie Groundhog Day.

Below is the former Woodstock Courthouse.  Now serving as an arts center and through the kiosk to the former jail cell (still intact) now serving as a restaurant.  In the movie Trains, Planes and Automobiles the scene where the car was being towed away and Steve Martin stepping into the truck driven by John Candy.

Below is the Gazebo built for the movie Groundhog Day.

I hope you enjoyed these photos as much as I enjoyed being back in Woodstock.

If you need a knowledgeable real estate professional in Madison or Huntsville Alabama area, why don't you let me Google that for you!

Now Nick, with all that Groundhog Day stuff, we thought for sure you would have repeated the blog at least a couple of times.

Are you going home via Toronto, dinners on us.

Thanks for the post. The Woodstock Opera House is such a beautiful place to visit and you captured the heart of the city just perfect!

Nice views of Woodstock, Illinois!  I will go to my grave with only one regret, and that is that I missed Woodstock - that other one in the late 1960s:-)

Nick ~ you certainly have done your homework on Woodstock.  I have some friends there, Scott and Karin.  I went to H. S. with them.  Make sure you tell them I say "Hello".  Oh, and my old college roommate, Mary was from Harvard.  Make sure you take a photo of Harmilda - the statue of the cow!

This one's for Myrl, after your Pirates Party and Haunted Mansion Wedding, it's not too late to have your own Woodstock Party!

Now that's something I'd like to see!

I thought people went south for Thanksgiving into the warmth.  Not north into the cold.

Enjoy your trip north.  I'm sure it'll remind you why you like where you live.
