More From Woodstock Illinois
I'm back now at the Woodstock Public Library trying to keep up with posting and commenting.
We had a little bit of weather here last night with a tornado touching down in Harvard Illinois (next to Woodstock) and other areas sustaining some major damage, but all is well here. I got my first dose of winter weather this morning as temps dipped into the twenties where they remain.
The Woodstock Public Library is just off the Woodstock Square so I thought I'd post a few photos of the square as it has an interesting and historic past.
Below is the Woodstock Opera House. It was seen in the movie Groundhog Day and also was the venue for some of Orson Welles' first performances. Orson Welles attended school in Woodstock in his youth.
Below a plaque on the sidewalk at the curb commemorates where Bill Murray stepped off and into a puddle in the movie Groundhog Day.
Below is the former Woodstock Courthouse. Now serving as an arts center and through the kiosk to the former jail cell (still intact) now serving as a restaurant. In the movie Trains, Planes and Automobiles the scene where the car was being towed away and Steve Martin stepping into the truck driven by John Candy.
Below is the Gazebo built for the movie Groundhog Day.
I hope you enjoyed these photos as much as I enjoyed being back in Woodstock.
