If I saved $220 this year I would immediately copy the "savings program" and forward it to my State Senators. Savings in any amount for anyone, individuals, cities, counties, states or federal government should be our collective goal. Reducing the cost of our living environments and the "governments" that support us is just common sense ... and not a political agenda.
We are presented with opportunities to "save"on an almost daily basis. Unfortunately, we just don't always take the time to be a "saver" usually because we're in a hurry or it is inconvenient. To some extent, even our fascination with technology may run counter to a saving habit. The necessity to "replace" a device when your current unit fails or is destroyed has been often replaced with needing to have the latest and greatest new toy. It's a habit we practice and a habit we teach!
Opportunites also abound for us to conserve our natural resources ... and in doing so save perhaps at the greatest level ... our future health and welfare. Moderation is a byword that replaces excess perhaps well into our life experience.
If perhaps we could somehow replace our culture of consumption with a culture of thrift, many of our every day problems might be reduced or eliminated. At the moment, it seems that everything I save ... ends up being spent in taxes ... so we need to start saving BIG!
Perhaps the mere act of thinking about saving $220 might bring about much greater savings in the long run!
