The Littleton Corn Maze at the Chatfield Arboretum
We had high hopes of attending the Corn Maze late today at the Chatfield Arboretum (part of the Denver Botanic Gardens). Since we live on the west side of Highlands Ranch, our home is very close by and it is a very quick drive for us. We have a very busy day with sporting events for both of our children and we had hoped to be able to check out the corn maze late today after we were through with the craziness of the day. Unfortunately though, one of my kids was stung my a bee at the other's soccer game - right on the top of the foot - snuck right in his sandal (he is ok now). So with the pain that caused, we decided it wasn't the right day to trudge through the corn maze. We decided to save it for another day when he was feeling better so we could take our time.
So, instead of actually attending today, we just jumped off the highway to take this quick photo of the entrance. We have been to the corn maze almost every year since my children could walk. They are really looking forward to it this year, as they are both old enough to try it on their own. This is not wimpy corn maze - it is great fun and it has been really challenging to get out of. There are overlooks above for on-lookers to take a peak, to either enjoy the view, or perhaps coax someone out.
This years maze is the largest ever - it is said to be nearly 8 1/2 acres. The theme this year is the Tropical Discovery Building at sunset of the Denver Botanic Gardens.
There has always been a smaller sized maze made out of hay bails for the little tykes as well as yummy refreshments that have always been perfect for our warm Colorado autumn days.
The Corn Maze at the Chatfield Arboretum opened this weekend and runs through October 28th. The hours are:
- Fridays 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm
- Saturdays 10:00 am - 9:00 pm
- Sunday 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The prices for non-members of the Botanic Gardens are adults $8.00 and children (3-15) $6.00. Members are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. Admission is allowed up to one hour before closing so you have time to complete the maze.
The Chatfield Arboretum is located off of Deer Creek Canyon Rd. Take C470 to Wadsworth. Go south on Wadsworth but take the very first right on Deer Creek Canyon Rd. The Chatfield Arboretum is located just a bit up the road on the left hand side.
I will be sure to add pictures once we make it over there. In the meantime, check it out.
