Berlin -A Look back
A couple of years ago my family and I went back to Berlin. This was my second trip to Berlin. Being a person very fond of museums Berlin is a great place to visit. They have an area they call Museum Island that host several wonderful museums including the Pergamon Museum which has the "Gates of Ishtar" and much more.
Berlin is a young city by European standards being founding sometime in the 12th century.
I found it to be quieter than many other large cities and very easy to travel around in. The U-BAHN is a wonderful train system. The funny thing on the U-BAHN is there is no one or no thing to take your ticket. It is an honor system. You buy your ticket and get on. They perform spot checks to see if you purchased a ticket. In the all the days I traveled it I never once saw someone check for tickets. But I saw everyone buying their tickets to ride. Imagine that system in the U.S.
( I bet Seattle wishes they had a system like that after the last few days of snow)
