Text Marketing in Real Estate?

By
Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Ambassador Real Estate

Text messaging is changing the way America communicates.  American send 4.1 billion text messages a day according to a report put out just this October.  That is equal to 14 texts per day per person in the United States.  Texting represents a new revolution in business communications.  It is information instantly delivered to customers, no matter where they are.

Just this week Prudential Ambassador in Omaha Nebraska kicked off a company- wide text marketing platform.  This is a new state of the art way for buyers to get detailed info on all listings while they are out scoping the neighborhoods.  Our buyers will be able to access information on all listings in the Omaha area, not just Prudential listings, to obtain full details including price, size and multiple photos.  As you drive around and see a home you are interested in getting information on you would just text the address and the full details will be immediately sent back to you via text.

If you are interesting in utilizing this system please email or text  me your cell # and any cell # in your household that would like to utilize the system.  I will set you up at no charge and email you back all of the instructions.  The process is a simple way for you easily access the information you are looking for in your home search.

We are super excited to be the first in the Omaha area to launch this new and innovative real estate marketing service to our clients.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

That sounds like an interesting service.  I'll keep an eye out for similar services when they arrive in CA (haven't seen one here yet).

I believe text messaging should be reserved for direct communication.  The idea of spamming or drip marketing should remain in the world of emails.  In my opinion, text messaging is for quick communication and it irritates me when I get a "did you know" marketing text - I've already been getting them, for example, a "call this number to make money working at home".  Like most people, I get slammed with junk email to the tune of 50-100 spam emails a day.  The email filters don't do their job anymore and I have to review the junk email box from time to time to see what I didn't get.  What if all those emails become text messages?  No thanks!  When sending listing info, email is a better platform, a client can spend more time on it and have more access to the information e.g. MLS listing details and photos.  I admit, this sounds good, but it what happens when every business and con-artist starts using it?  Just think of those emails for trading money with some one in another country, will those start coming by text message too?  Will people start selling lists of phone numbers to text too?

I agree with those thoughts and some people could misuse the system.  However, we are using it as an opt in and opt out way to marketing to the public.  This makes it a very innovative system for our buyers to drive through neighborhoods and have access to all listings at the tip of their fingers.  It is also great for home sellers.  This system much like the emails you are talking about and it does give them full listing info and all of the photos.

It's interesting to see a new concept like this in my own backyard.  I wish you well with the new strategy!
