"KNICK-KNACK-PADDYWHACK, GIVE THE DOG A BONE--THIS OLD MAN CAME ROLLING HOME"  Start singing that old song, and you'll be humming it all day long.

Do you ever get something on your mind, and it won't go away--it won't give you peace of mind?  Well, I began signing this song with a couple of my grand children last week, and it has followed me around like an ole stray dog ever since.

The question is, "WHAT HAS THIS SONG GOT TO DO WITH A REAL ESTATE BLOG?"  Remember the first verse?

"This old man, he played one, he played knick-knack on my thumb."  Some would call me an old man--I'll be 64 next month.  [I don't call myself old, and only on occassion do I feel the effects of my "experienced bones."]  Nonetheless, I  got to thinking, andso I'll play:

ONE--If I played ONE, WITH A KNICK-KNACK-PADDYWHACK ON MY THUMB, what might I learn?  My thumb is vital to my (1) taking hold of things--success requires that ONE take hold of things.  (2) My thumb is vital to My making touch with the things I would want to understand and direct.  My CLIENTs want to know that I have a FEEL for the task they are looking for me to accomplish on their behalf.  (3) My thumb is connected to my IDENTITY: I am as unique as my fingerprint, and I cannot change WHO I AM.  Everything I TOUCH bears the mark of MY PERSONAL INVOLVEMENT.

I will be reminded every time I notice my thumb, so GIVE THE DOG A BONE.  THIS OLD MAN CAME ROLLING HOME!

Ernie, I have to read a lot of things more than once; but I have also had to re-do things more than once.  Every time I sit down to teach one of my Grand Children something, I end up learnig something as well.  Children ask the most basic, thought-provoking and challenging questions.  They force you to "look again" at things.

Patrick, May your turkey be plentiful, and your gravy be thick!

The best of this special Holiday to each of you, and I trust you have much for which to be thankful!

Hey Mike, I find doing summer saults is easier than answering the riddle of age.  Aren't we the "new 30"?

The Best of this Season of Thankfulness...

Fred,

Those are great thought provoking words. Nice post. We're never too old to learn and it sounds like your grand kids keep you in the discovery mode! How lucky you are to be such a young grandfather.

What a gift you have been given! Enjoy singing those old songs and they will keep you young forever!

Patricia,

Thank you.  Wednesday (24th) was my oldest Grandchild's 7th birthday.  He alone would be greater reward that I deserve.  There are eight more following.  I held the yougest (6 month old, Lila) for about an hour tonight--so I go into this day celebrating with a most thankful spirit.  The real blessing is a few minutes with a child can totally disolve a full days frustrations--that is the secret to youthfulness.  When the family gathers, the women tend to include me in the "kiddie-count."  Wonder if they think I act too much like one of the kids?

May your day of feasting on turkey & trimmin's be a bounty of thankfulness, and your year bring you more reasons to look forward to this annual day of Thankfulness.
