Way back in pre-school, and/or Kindergarten, we learned about the Pilgrims and Thanksgiving Day. Many of us made turkeys using our handprints and decorating them. Now, many years later I realize the symbolism of using our hands, it is to reinforce what is important to us today! I hope you are having a great Thanksgiving Day, and please remember that our hands symbolize our doing and giving to help others, as well as our ability to pray and give thanks.

Barbara, no ricotta pie, we do that for Easter. But there was no shortness of anti-pasta, Ravioli and meats in sauce, turkey and all sorts of surprises and my sister who makes the best desserts. An apple cheese cake crumb, Rainbow cookies, Apple pie with oatmeal type crust, grandma's best rice pudding know to man....I feel fat already!
Although my "kids" are all grown, I do still have boxes of their artwork and I'm sure I could find some of these turkeys if I looked. Happy Thanksgiving, Ellen!

Ellen, this is great! Since our Thanksgiving is past, we think we will 'steal' this idea for Christmas, its a wonderful idea and way of teaching children what is truly important! Thanks for the idea Ellen, stay well.
Nice turkey! This brought back a memory of first grade when we painted plaster turkeys and pilgrims. Wow, I haven't thought of that in a VERY long time!
