I love this post. Thanks for all the great photos too. I lived on a "floating Home" in the best city for it, San Diego, 72 degrees year round! I enjoyed my condo on the water for 6 years, 2 story, 2 fireplaces, spiral staircase, stack washer and drier. A dishwasher would have put it over the top...Too bad San Diego is not really live aboard friendly or I would have never sold it. I keep hoping San Diego will take a look at San Francisco and Seattle and realize that these communities are wonderful for our cities and would be a great addition to our beautiful harbor.

Hope the house doesn't develop a leak......in the basement!

We use to live in Sammamish before it was Sammamish and was just part of incorporated King County with a Redmond address.  When we would drive into Seattle or take our boat on Lake Washington and into Lake Union, I would see the house boats there and think how fun it would be to live there.  Of course, the Sleepless in Seattle movie made it look even more fun.  Thanks for the memories!

Sam, that is such a fascinating neighborhood.  Thanks for sharing it - felt like I was on a tour.  I've seen a houseboat neighborhood like that in the mountains of NC, near Bryson City.  Don't remember the name of it - we were on a train ride and rode past it!

Sam...saw this area on a TV show that visited the NW.  It was pretty then, but your photos did bring it up close and personal.  For me, give me land, lots of land--Terra-firma--solid-packed earth--earth where i can have a garden if I wish. Water is beautiful to see--from a distance or as in your photos; I get sea sick just hearing the waves something with the inner ear..Could not live on nor visit anyone who lived on a Houseboat--but it seems to be a beautiful place in the sun [wind, rain, & storms] to live for many others.

Super images! Hey Sam, what's up with server bog time and what can the AR University expect for down the road for less time hanging around the water cooler to get blogs posted, uploaded and off to the rest of our real estate dog and pony? What do you hear?

The last two photos look familiar. I was visiting Seattle this past June for a working vacation with one of the local inspectors (the name is withheld to protect the guilty;)). He took me down to look at the house boats. We kind of waaaander onto the docks. It was strictly a fact finding foray. Very interesting houses.

I love this neighborhood! Seattle has so much to offer.
