Reading about it …. Or a hands-on experience …. Which is your preferred learning method?
Helping folks to buy or sell real estate in Lodi, California has some side benefits that agents in larger metropolitan areas may not have the opportunity to experience. One of those benefits is becoming aware, first hand, how the community you serve is inter-connected. Talking with a prospective Lodi home buyer, gave me an opportunity to do a little research on educational options in Lodi, California.
It was during that research that I discovered “WOW” – World of Wonders, a science museum. Located just east of downtown Lodi, California, WOW offers a “hands-on” science experience. A member of the Association of Science Technology Centers, WOW is currently partnering with the Exploratorium in San Francisco presenting 30 to 40 different and rotating exhibits to the local community. A “family membership” at WOW also provides you with member benefits to any participating ASTC facility.
The history of the “museum” is a current one – prompted by a visit of local merchant Dan Ingrum (Danz Jewelers) to the Exploratorium in 2004, WOW went from an “idea” to reality in a few short years. Broad community support raised funds, promoted options and negotiated with City officials and WOW opened in a city building in Lodi. One of the exciting new concept events coming up on December 11 and 12 is Digology at the WOW – “Unearth a Paleontology Experience” – with limited space tickets are available at WOW. You can reach their web site by clicking here.
Shopping ideas for the holidays may just be the key to this retail store for the World of Wonders. Many of the educational gift ideas may not be found in other retail outlets.
Sunday, December 5th is also the Omega Nu Holiday Home Tour from 1-5PM. One of the local charities benefited by this fund raiser is the World of Wonders Science Museum. Tickets are $25 and may be obtained by calling Jo Sandelin (209-333-8326) or Kathy Beckman (209-367-1000.) The host location for refreshments, wine, coffee and raffle baskets is Abundance Winery located at 1150 West Turner Road.
