Seller Tips:  Selling Your Charlotte Home During the Holidays

Selling your Charlotte home is a stressful experience for most people and it’s certainly not any easier during the holidays.  However, selling your home during the holidays doesn’t have to be a negative.

Here are a few tips to help you sell your Charlotte home during the holidays:

Decorate:  Holiday decorations are beautiful and make your home look inviting, especially traditional decorations displayed tastefully throughout your home.  Be sure to keep the decorations simple and uncluttered.

Baking during the holidays pleases the buyers sense of smell
Go ahead and bake your own cookies, candies and pies this year.  You’ll have your pies ready and the welcoming scents will fill your house; this is truly enticing to buyers.

Create warmth:  Keep the thermostat set at a comfortable heating level.  Buyers don’t want stay in a home that they’re touring if it's cold.

Brighten it up: Winter days are often dark and gray.  Bring in all available natural light that you possibly can by keeping curtains open during daytime showings. Turn on lamps and other lighting in your home or use automatic timers if the home is not being lived in or if you’re away.

Share the holiday spirit with your potential buyers
Share some holiday spirit:
Buyers may want to see your home at inconvenient times, but keep in mind that everyone is busy at this time of year.  Buying a home during the holidays is no easier than selling a home during the holidays, so be gracious; make your potential buyers feel welcome and offer some hot tea or fresh baked goodies.

Life as usual:
Don’t neglect your family or obligations during this time.  This will only add to your stress.  Simply keep the holidays as stress free as possible this year, so you don’t add to your overall stress level.  Keeping your home clutter-free every day is one sure way to alleviate stress; this way, when showings are scheduled, you’re ready to SHOW!

Selling your Charlotte home during the holidays can be done. Follow these tips to use the holidays to your advantage.  Are you ready to sell your home?  I’m ready to help!  Give me a call today or email me; I’m happy to help!

Debe - Great tips.  Also, when buyers are looking at this time of year, they're typically far more serious about buying.  Also, what better time of year to make your home look "homey".

Some people said No No with Holiday decorations. I'm not saying every inch corner of the house but the Holiday season brings a Holiday cheer in people. They are happy and they want to buy. What better way?

Inspiring my next post that I thought I didn't have the energy to do today....... I'm sick as a dog.

I think your holiday showing tips are great Debe. All these will not only make life easier on your sellers, but certainly give potential buyers the ambiance and warmth of the home they could be enjoying next year after they buy that home!

Heat and light...heat and light...heat and light...can't say that enough. It's 32 degrees out there it has to be bright and warm inside or the buyer just feels like they are outside and they'll keep looking.

Debe, as usual, great tips for sellers on the market during the holidays.  I don't know how any buyers could ignore that nostalgic feeling of walking into a home and smelling cookies baking in the oven!

Thanks everyone for your comments and for all of the re-blogs!  I've been a bit busy today and have not had a chance to reciprocate but, know that I love your thoughts that you post here!  Kenneth, I agree that odors/scents used in a home to 'cover-up' or mask malodorous problems is a turn-off to me and my buyers as well.  However, I disagree that fresh baked cookies, cakes or pies has that same effect--it gives a 'homey' feel and I've never had a buyer turn up their noses at freshly baked molasses or chocolate chip cookies!

Have a fabulous Friday everyone!

Sage advice from the Queen of Charlotte :)  There's nothing quite like the smell of 'home' during the holidays, is there?
