Are we the Jetsons yet?

Mortgage and Lending with Sun West Mortgage Company, Inc. NMLS#292396/VA#MLO-6503

Our kids are three and two. They will never live in a world without iChat and Facetime! When they want to “Call” their cousins, they actually expect to see them face-to-face! How funny! When I hand my cell phone to my kids to talk to Grandma and Grandpa they don’t know what to do… They say: “I can’t see them,” and hand it back, like something is wrong!

And now Space Travel with Sir Richard Branson’s new company! They are already going into space with a few flights a day!  Amazing!

Other normal things my kids will take for granted:

•Ultra thin 3D Televisions

•Amazing Video Games

•Home Computers

•Home Printing

•Paperless offices

•Virtual workdays

•DVD Players

•Flash Drives

•Online Banking, Learning, and Shopping

•Cell Phones

•Overnight delivery

•iRobots to clean the floors vs. vacuuming

and so much more…

Do we live in an amazing time or what!  I love that they get to take these things for granted! Are we the Jetsons yet?

I know it's amazing with technology what the times have traded.

Kids (and us) who do not need to work on memorizing phone numbers of friends and families to the connection between video games and great surgeons who work with lasers and screens

Enjoy the day

These are amazing things, true. And yet, we're still waiting for the day we cure the common cold.

It is truely amazing - the advancement and tech and gizmos and the rate at which they are becoming apart of everyday life. Jezz - wonder what we are going to take for granted in another 20 to 30 years.

my fave in your list above is the irobots!!!   Pets love them too as they're mesmerizing entertainment.

Do you think previous generations felt as fortunate as we do to be living in such forward times?

Don—it is incredible! Especially in the advancement of medical science.

Joetta—I just don't think there is enough money in finding a cure for the common cold. My only guess...

Dan—I know 20-30 years from now I can't imagine what we will be living like! Flying cars, and undersea homes... which just may be above sea homes today, with global warming!

Take care!

I am not sure... I cannot imagine a time other than the Industrial Revolution that we have had this type of speed of product development and integration into everyday life, and the IR seemed to be a bad time to be a child or woman from what I have read. I think we have it better!

The speed of new technology in continuous change and how we can produce videos, virtual tours and any other media is amazing. It is easy to take all for granted when they have lived this technology since day 1.

Just wait until they are in school--homework is done online, research is done online, dictionaries, online again.  Sixth graders now need their own laptops and cell phones not to mention a host of other techie toys.

Jim—Yep... I hope so, or is there going to be so much more to learn?

Norma—I know, they already have techie toys and use technology! My 3 year old in taking computer classes in her pre-school!

HI INGRID!  Wow - when it's put in a list like this ... I wonder how I managed as a kid soooooo many years ago!  Cleaning out a few things - my daughter came across a cassette tape and it amazed her that she couldn't stick it in to a computer! -- Gab

Great post Ingrid and we do live in a hi-tech world and there are many gadgets that companies are holding back. I also think that Facebook will be replaced by a network that VB is working on, "Top Secret" information though ...

Ingrid, The Jetsons was one of my favorite cartoons - they were the best!  There are so many things today that my kids have that we didn't when we were growing. Wow, how times change.
