Poisonous Plants

By
Real Estate Agent with Right at Home Realty Inc., Brokerage

PoinsettiasChristmas plants lend a feeling of holiday cheer to your home during this festive season.  However, beware that poinsettia leaves can be toxic.  Sometimes eating the leaves can cause vomiting and a latex substance in the leaves is caustic to the eyes and mouth.

Keep toddlers and pets away from the plants and pick up any leaves that have dropped to the ground.  It is a good idea to keep young children away from all houseplants just to be safe.

I'm MORE concerned with pets so my plants are table level or above....they will eat ANYTHING GREEN

Thank you I did not know that and one of my dogs will eat anything in sight, will definitely reconsider where the poinsettias go this year

Gail,

Thanks for the head up about this. I knew that, but I had forgotten.

My granddaughter is a year old and puts everything in her mouth.  I will be especially vigilant this Christmas.
