While making my first appearance to a Black Friday event I noticed a common theme. Numerous shoppers were talking about not knowing what to get their kids, grandkids or other family members for Christmas. Most had no clue what their family liked or disliked. Why don't we know what our children and grand children want? Have we become so consumed by our work and own survival we have lost track of our families? Maybe instead of yet another video game, why don't we give something more precious...like our time? Instead of buying a gift that may or may not work why not set your budget and take them shopping for their own gift? You might learn something about your family you didn't know. It would cut down on returns if people picked out their own gift. The surprise would be gone, along with the frustration of deciding what to buy, the chance of multiple same toys, the returns of things they didn't like. I started doing it when my kids were young and they loved it. Kind of like sending a gift card with you attached. Anything to reduce the Holiday pressure. Just a thought. Have a great Holiday and thanks for reading.
It's always so important to remember to take time with those we love. Thanks for the reminder!
Thanks for the reminder. As a kid, I never looked forward to the gifts. I loved having all my friends and family all together in one room! The gift of time is priceless.
Great idea. I'm not even sure what I want half the time. I don't know which is harder, shopping for other people or trying to decide what i shouldt ell people I want.
Absolutely! You said ! I’m not even religious and I still don’t get involved in all the commerciality that is Christmas nowadays. I prefer to simply give of myself a little each day throughout the year, to friends, family, and even foes.
It is sad that folks don't know their children and grandchildren well enough to know what they would like for Christmas. Great suggestion. As for me I can use as little pressure as poosble!
It's a sad situation, but all too common these days. We could all follow this advice!
