Gaylord Texan Ice Exhibit

Yesterday, my friend and I traveled to the Gaylord Texan Resort to see the annual Ice show Exhibit, featuring the Peanuts.

If you have not been, it's quite the spectacle, with both ice and snow slides for all ages, and an incredible ice sculpture exhibit with colored ice as well as clear ice. I have never seen a colored ice exhibit before, so for me it was pretty amazing. Here are some pictures:

This is the auditorium entrance, entirely of ice.....

Angel

An ice angel....

Doghouse

Charlie Brown and Snoopy's Doghouse.....

Nativity Scene

The nativity scene...

Snoopy

Of course, I had to take one of Snoopy!

Snoopy Running

And really, two of Snoopy...how can you resist????

Psychiatric Help

And, the infamous Lucy psychiatric help booth!

Peanuts

The Gaylord Texan website is here: https://www.grapevinetexasusa.com/christmas/gaylord/index.html?gclid=CJrF17aFx6UCFY5d7Aod6gO8CQ

They have these HUGE parkas you get as enter, as the temperature to keep the ice sculptures in good form is, understandably, quite cold.  Bring gloves, as we did not and that made it a somewhat shorter visit. Also, comfy footwear and pants you don't care as much about if you choose to do either the snow or ice slides.

Quite fun, I have to say, and being from up North, the cold immersion was a nice change of pace.

Stacy - it's so worth it! My friends say the Grinch exhibit was here last year, and they give you super lofty blue parkas, so as long as you bring gloves, and have warm socks on, you will be fine.

Carol - did you come all the way from Florida to see this?  I live about 5 miles from Grapevine and haven't been able to get to it yet.  This year I have made it a priority because everyone I know who has seen it has loved it.

Carol,  We have a Gaylord Hotel in Texas, I've been to it but not during Christmas though.  I heard it's amazing and by your pictures, it is.  My kiddos will love this.

We do ours in January, and just leave them outside. No need for man made cooling. Awesome pics.

Hi Carol,

My family and I went a couple years ago! It was such a fantastic experience. Unfortunately,  I won't be in Texas this winter, so I won't be able to go again.  Anyone in that area definitely should check it out!

Hello Carol,

I guess I live a sheltered life in Humble, Tx.  I have not seen this, but the pictures are awesome.  I'll need to get up there and take a look.  Thanks
