Early this morning, low temperatures were responsible for icey windshields..not mine because we are fortunate to have a garage. This is the first frost I have noticed this season.

Margaret - yes, I grew up in Los Angeles and never saw an ice scraper until I moved to Chicago 25 (long) years ago.

What really surprises me that there are so many homes built here with detached garages. With the extremes that we have in weather, why would a builder not build an attached garage? Well, one reason, at least for new construction, is that the house can be larger with a detached garage. Stupid, I think. But everyone just accepts it.

An aside, in this area it is really hard to sell a house without a garage ... or worse ... with a garage that has been "converted!" Thanks for the easterly lesson!
