Boulder County Happenings - New Lafayette Skatepark to Open!

Male SkateboarderThe much anticipated new skatepark is scheduled to open on December 11th.  It's hard to imagine, but there will no doubt be a line of anxious skateboarders just itching to get into the new skatepark and try it out!

Located just behind the Bob L. Burger Recreation Center, the new skatepark was just recently dedicated (last month).  City Recreation Department personnel are prepared to shovel snow, if need be, to ensure the skatepark opens as schedule.

Lighting has been installed, three "bowls" have been completed and even a "snake run" has been installed.  Anxious skateboards have been watching through the fence just waiting for the chance to take their run.

Lafayette's new skatepark, according to the construction team, is going to be unmatched in the state.  It will likely be used by the construction team as their showcase for future projects.

Female Skate BoarderWonder if any of the skateboarders will even notice the cold, as they strap on their helmets and gloves, and ride their boards over the various new features of the park on opening day.... wonder if they will notice all the music and other activities and fanfare of the opening ceremony taking place around them.....  Who knows, Santa may even join in on the fun; it is, after all, December and Christmas is just around the corner....

Bring your hot cocoa and your camera; it will be no doubt be a day filled with fun and excitement!  When you're finished watching (or skate boarding); make sure to visit some of the great local businesses to find unique gifts for those special loved ones on your Chirstmas List!
