As a fundraising family, my wife and I are always pleased to read about young people's efforts to make a difference.

From the Main Line Times,
Good soul gathers good soles for families in need:

"HAVERFORD - A Harriton student is helping to improve the lives of those in need, one pair of shoes at a time.Over the past few months, Alexander Stempel, 17, of Haverford, has been on a mission to collect shoes for an organization called Soles4Souls. At last count, Stempel's efforts had resulted in over 1,000 pairs of shoes.

Last week, with the help of family and friends, he was busy filling dozens of large boxes with the donated items.

"I felt like this was a great organization and I felt that I could contribute a lot," Stempel said as he stood amid piles of shoes ready to be boxed for shipment.

The Soles4Souls organization began as a way to help families displaced after the 2004 tsunami in Southeast Asia and Hurricane Katrina's devastation along the Gulf Coast in 2005."
