Carlsbad Things to Do - The Rancho Santa Fe Art Affaire

The Rancho Santa Fe Art Fair took place today in the two parks in the heart of the Village across the street from the famed Inn at Rancho Santa Fe.  The weather was perfect and there were a couple of hundred arts and crafts vendors displaying their creations, scattered among the two parks under the trees along Avenida de Acacias at Paseo Delicias.

There were a large number of jewelry makers, along with numerous painters in all media (watercolor, oil, prints, drawings, mixed media and more). Other artists displayed their sculpture, hand-made scarves and hand bags, heirloom pillows, creative t-shirts with antique lace and other trimmings (Antiqui-TEE), fountains, photographs and much more.

It was a feast for the eyes and some great shopping.

This was the 8th year for the fair and it seemed fairly well attended, although I must say I though the crowd rather small, at least when I was there, and fewer people than I remember from last year (there were some other areas events going on which I expect kept some folks away).

Box lunches could be ordered by patrons, a jazz quartet played at center stage between the two parks, the San Diego Muscle and Classic Car Dealer had 5 terrific cars on display (for sale - prices of their cars in the 145+ collection range from $6000 to $250,000), and the Espresso Bar truck was doing a lively business.

Art created by children at local schools was on display, and there was a Children's Art Show at the Rancho Santa Fe Gallery across the street.

All in all it was a wonderful outdoor art fair in a beautiful setting.

Hope you enjoy the show below.

Jeff it looks like a great little fair.  We have a large fair that will be going on at the end of the month is the next town over.  It generally draws between 250,000 to 300,000.  It is all most to big, and sometimes you feel like you are in a human traffic jamb. I like some of the activities and performers that they have, but I mostly go for the food.

George - thank you. It IS a smallish fair relative to the ones here is Carlsbad where we get a couple hundred thousand attendees. I can't really even enjoy something that size. And you're right, the food at these things can be pretty enjoyable. Carlsbad has a popular Art Splash event next weekend with a huge chalk art display and contest.
