Overview
This legendary and very beautiful village, steeped in folklore and immortalized by Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", boasts several world famous landmarks including Philipsburg Manor, the Old Dutch Church, the Union Church of Pocantico Hills, and the Rockefeller Family Estate Kykuit. Once called North Tarrytown, the name was officially changed to Sleepy Hollow in 1996. The village has its own police and fire departments. The serene residential neighborhoods of Philips Manor and Sleepy Hollow Manor are located on the banks of the mighty Hudson River, as is Sleepy Hollow's train station enabling commuters to be in Grand Central Station in 40 minutes via express service. Beekman Avenue is the village main street complete with stores, condo highrises and restaurants. Phelps Hospital, associated with Sloan Kettering in NYC offers many advanced services and sits right next to the continued care retirement community of Kendal on Hudson. Beautiful Sleepy Hollow is home to a very wide range of different housing types and styles, starting with coop and condo developments in the low 100,000's and up, through single family homes in all price ranges, and ending with multi-million-dollar mansions and estates. Sleepy Hollow offers a very active recreational department servicing every age group. Activities include open gym nights for youth and adults, Summer Day Camp and summer concerts, Little League baseball, soccer (AYSO) and Pop Warner football, just to name a few. Today Sleepy Hollow combines city convenience and small-town charm. Residents enjoy a plethora of outdoor adventures and activities including parks, forests, rivers, lakes, streams and trails along one of the most scenic stretches of the Hudson River. One of the largest parks withinthe village is the county-owned Kingsland Point Park which offers 18 acres where residents and visitors can picnic, play ball and go fishing. Religious congregations in Sleepy Hollow include one Baptist, three Roman Catholic, Beth Abraham Conservative and Reform Services, the beautiful Union Church of Pocantico Hills, and the famous Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow.

Sleepy Hollow is truely a unique and historic place to live.  It's especially interesting around Halloween.
