Sales have remained fairly steady from October in Winnetka, Wilmette and Glencoe. Northfield had 6 closed sales in October and Kenilworth had 1, but that is not important over a one month's period.
One notable sale was at 1175 Whitebridge Hill in Winnetka which started at $10,750,000 and closed for $6,500.000. There were several new construction homes that sold in the $1.5 to $1.7 million range (one with a 75 x 180 lot) - just three years ago the prices would have fetched around $250,000 more.
One of my favorite homes at 603 Elm in Winnetka sold for $2,865,000, an exquisite home built in 2007 that melded into the street as though it had been built 100 years ago.
714 Park in Winnetka finally sold for $3,800,000 after a grueling 1,233 days on market.
In Glencoe, a 2007 built home at 501 Greenleaf sold as a short sale for $2,050,000 - the original asking price had been $4,295,000 back in 2007.
Who says homes don't sell during the Holiday Season? Your home surely won't sell if it's not on the market - waiting until Spring to list your house can be tricky since everyone else is doing the same thing. That just means more competition for you home in already crowded market.
