I am from Texas and Dallas is one of the cities we specialize in helping folks relocate to Baton Rouge.  I try to visit cities we connect with so we can be more aware as we help with relocations.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, I took my two grandsons to Dallas Texas and stayed at the Gaylord Texan.  This hotel has been transformed into a winter wonderland for families to enjoy.

Cookies and Milk and storytime with Mrs. Claus at the Gaylord Texas, Dallas Texas Santa Claus and his family and the Elves and Reindeer were the guest of the month at the Gaylord.  The first evening after being awed by the 7 story Christmas tree and millions of lights in the atrium, we slipped away to an hour and a half adventure of stories, and magic and music with Mrs. Claus.  We met one of the Elves she brought along who sant "I ain't getting nothing for Christmas, Cause I Aint Been nothing But Bad".  And of course there were reindeer puppets, and group singing and music that the children made with bells.  The climax was the reading of "Twas the Night Before Christmas".  Then Mrs. Claus personally autographed a book for each of the children present.  Off to bed with dreams of sugarplums dancing in our heads!

Breakfast with Charlie Brown, Gaylord TexanThe next morning we were greated at breakfast by Charlie Brown himself!  And there were lots of goodies, in addition to a buffet full of eggs fixed various ways (scrambled, eggs benedict, etc.) there crepes full of fruit and cream cheese, and a meat carving table with turkey and ham.  Waffles and fresh fruit and pigs-in-blankets gave us quite an appetite.  But by the time we finished, we thought we wouldn't eat again all day.  (But of course by dinner we stopped again at the sports bar for a hamburger and fries).  The family friendly atmosphere was delightful.  Charlie took lots of time to pose for pictures and even sat at our table for a little while.

The ICE and SNOW activities were unbelievable.  The ice sculptures in ICE told the Peanuts Christmas Story just as in the original film.  We found snoopy in his doghouse, the rehersal for the play, and then the story told by Linus "The real meaning of Christmas".  There were even ice slides and snow sledding where the kids can burn off energy.  Imagine that.  Real snow in Dallas Texas!

It was hard to believe that we were not at the North Pole!  We ran thru the magnificant lobby finding Santa's lost reindeer, visited the Toy Factory accompanied by an Elf, decorated gingerbread houses, and met with Santa to tell him what we wanted for Christmas.  A wonderful time was had by all.
