Payback is a Behar!

By

I watched the Dennis Miller "The Big Speech" special on HBO the other night. His usual highbrow wit with a lot to say about a lot of things. One of his best lines in the special was in reference to President Obama's several reminders to John McCain and other republicans that he won. Well, this special was taped just after the Nov. 2 elections. Millers response to Obama was "Payback is a Behar!" If you are not familiar with the reference you can get an idea here.

I enjoy Miller's brand of comedy, I thought he was terrific on the SNL news. If you are on the left, you may not enjoy it as much as I did. As a matter of fact, if you are  on the far right, you might not enjoy it as much.

To be fair and balanced, I also watched Robert Klein's "Unfair and Unbalanced" which was certainly a bit more nasty but no less erudite attempt at humor at the expense of republicans and the right. I also found some things to laugh at during this routine.

However, I think the opening Hymn set the tone for the remainder of the night, and, disregarding the sage advice about head not to be listening to, echoed the sentiments of how many on the left, Chris Matthews et al, had/have for Obama.

Check the sp;ecials out if you get a chance, you may enjoy. And, if you have libertarian leanings as I do, you will laugh at times during both.

Dennis Miller is very clever, bright and funny.  I like him and Bill O'Reilly sparring back and forth.

Mike...the Behar moment is now clear to me & it reinforces why that show is never tuned into in this home;
MOVING ON, you know that I would comment on Klein's appearance at a Kennedy Center--Right?    Almost
made me fall off this stupid chair at my computer station. That wasn't for real was it?  That upper left
Box [stage right] looked like the Presidential Box--he wasn't there was he?  Too funny!  SaL came down
to watch this  & I can still hear him laughing from upstairs.
Political humor can oft times be truly funny.
Fun post.  [ Love to see anyone get the best of Bill O].
]       While Sal was listening to this video, I tried to lower the volume on my TV-
all I did was succeed in mucking it up. Now I have the job of trying to get out of 'settings'
as soon as this is posted.
Always like to end a Run in the Rain on a laugh and tonight You did that for me.
[still laughter coming form the kitchen up above my head]
have a great rest of the 1st week in December.

I don't know how I would classify myself but I do love the funny and I caught his act.  I love Dennis Miller, I just wish he would help my economy and buy a house from me. . .

It's good to see someone from Hollywood that isn't a complete liberal loon. Miller is a funny guy.

Rob - there are actually quite a few, Bruce Willis, Kelsey Grammer, Patricia Heaton. Miller is a libertarian, certainly not a conservative

I enjoy Dennis Miller for the most part. He is usually good on Bill O'Reilly, but his radio show, (which I've never listened to a whole show, but catch bits and pieces of it from time to time He is on late evening on Saturday's in our area, around 8:30pm or so), is usally kind of dry and you never know what kind of topic he may be on.

I hope Robert Klien is right as far as "maybe never get another chance" so keep it in your pants.

There are days that I could be a Libertian and I always enjoy Rand Paul and he has many libertian viewpoints which he states very clearly and pointedly. There are so many "conservative republicans" that run and say the right things, and then end up having bad morals, that I find quite disturbing.

We have, in fact, two kinds of morality side by side: one which we preach but do not practice, and another which we practice but seldom preach.
Bertrand Russell

History is a voice forever sounding across the centuries the laws of right and wrong. Opinions alter, manners change, creeds rise and fall, but the moral law is written on the tablets of eternity.

    James A. Forude
I say that a man must be certain of his morality for the simple reason that he has to suffer for it.
G. K. Chesterton

Without morality to govern our nation and our lives, democracy will fail  as greed and coruption rises- Paul Walker

Paul - it is much easier to attack a person who professes morals but sometimes fails to live up to their own standards than it is to criticize the person that professes no morals. How many people stood up for Clinton but criticize Vitter.
