Christmas Photo Challenge-'Tis the Reason for the Season

While we are so busy celebrating the holidays, let's not forget the true meaning of Christmas-the celebration of birth of Jesus Christ.  I am not writing a religious post, but we need to remember Christmas is not about buying tons of Christmas gifts to our children and make them think that's the reason to look forward to celebrating Christmas.

We can teach our kids to share the joy of Christmas by helping the less fortunate, after all, 'tis the season for giving.  It is so nice for a kid to learn how to help the others at a young age, it lasts forever, mostly anyway.

Rita, seems that Christmas has become so commercialized, I doubt that some of todays youth don't really know what its all about.

There are a slew of family folks doing just that in the country..teaching kids to be grateful for what they have, to help others less fortunate and not for any attention to themselves in the process.

Lynn, spending some money for gifts sure can help the economy some, but seeing some parents/grown ups buying some toys up to hundreds of dollars just makes me speechless.  And some parents wonder why their kids are so self centered............

what a great manger scene!  I enjoyed shopping in the toy department today something I dont get to do....our office adopted a family for Christmas and I was picking up several gifts (we are giving to a family of 6 children)!  That is what the season is about to me....sharing the love with others that is the best gift

Marilyn, that's what it is all about, giving the love to those who need it and there is nothing better than that.  Have you all finished shopping for the family yet?  I am helping a local organization to get Christmas gifts for 3 families, I have 2 more families to go, and sent out emails to friends and clients and ask for their generosity.  We had a great turn out last year, and collected a lot more than they asked for.  I hope I have a good turn out this year, too.
