My first pet was a dog when I was a child, I always love dogs, the bigger the better. It is just something about those big dogs, they are fierce looking and so gentle inside, they are usually very loyal and protective. I was never scared of big dogs, even when I was a little girl.
For some reasons, I was never fond of cats when I was young. It's something about their look that I did not like, they looked mean to me, and they came on to you quietly, it kind of crept me out just a little bit. I never saw myself as a cat person, never would imagine myself keeping a cat as a pet. It would not happen, it just wouldn't.
Some time in April this year, my broker found 3 kitties under her deck in her backyard, she did what a pet lover would do, she took them in to stay with her till she found a good home for them. She has 2 cats at home already, she couldn't keep 5 cats all under one roof. She had been telling me about the kitties, one was very tiny and didn't look like it would make it for too long.
My 2 girls always wanted a cat as a pet, but I didn't tell them about the new found cats that my broker kept throwing hints to see if I would keep them. My thought was I never kept a cat before and I just couldn't see myself as a cat owner, I didn't want to even try to be one. My broker has kept them for about 2 months and just couldn't do it anymore, she was considering to take them to the animal shelter, and right before she did that, which I didn't even know that was going through her mind. I talked to my girls one day and asked if they would like to have a cat for house pet, they were screaming YES YES YES! I knew the answer before I asked anyway. So, okay, I guess I would give it a try, I kept 2 kittens, one boy and one girl. My broker continues to keep the tiniest one and see if she could keep her alive.
I am not going to lie, I was not willing to pick them up and get too close to them at first, I was still trying to accept the fact that I actually have 2 kittens at home now. After a week or two, we, I mean the kittens and I were getting used to each other and all the new things that were going on, my connection with them grew stronger and stronger.
I finally am willing to pick them up, play with them, hold them like a baby, treat them like my baby. I LOVE THEM! They changed me to be a cat lover, forever.
This picture was taken when they were about 7-8 weeks old. They are just so cute, and they are full of personalities, they make us laugh all the time. The boy is Chub, and the girl is JJ. In the picture, I think the one on the left (the bigger one) is Chub, the other one is JJ.
About their tiny sister, she didn't make it after all, but she lived a good life with my broker for about 3 months, and it still makes me cry thinking about her.
Here is my Chub and JJ:
