Have you ever done something you had never attempted before and were surprised at how well it turned out?
Yesterday was the Christmas Party for the Hill Country Youth Ranch and it went wonderfully well. It was amazing to see how my office accomplished everything we set out to do. The whole program ran smoothly. Everyone had a great time and the children were well behaved according to the counselors. They were even surprised at how their attention was held and how well everyone followed directions.
Our office, Ricki Eichler Real Estate, wanted to do something good for the community and back in September we began to plan this party. In October, we placed donation boxes in various businesses and asked for new unwrapped gifts from the public. We contacted store managers and asked for donations, we even put up some money jars in restaurants. We asked for help with food, candy, and desserts. We received small offerings from many people. We bought lots of gifts ourselves and our agents made homemade goodies for all the children. For several days, our conference room was turned into a gift wrapping factory. Tish Hunt, Liz Burge and Heather Russo wrapped all the gifts.
We arranged them by house order and tried to match individual gifts with each child. Learning what we could about each one so their gifts would fit them and they would know somebody cared about them. The smiles on their faces, the looks of surprise was enough to make anyone cry.
The life lessons they learned from listening to Lorraine Limon' our interpretive dancer and Pastor Del Way, the recording artist and preacher, are things they will not forget anytime soon. We have all been touched by God's love and His Goodness.
I have had my Christmas. Have you had yours?
This morning we took leftover sandwiches, cookies, fruit and candy to the homeless people that live in our area. There is something we all can do to make this world better. You never know what you can do until you try. It was a big undertaking we did with no prior experience on how to do it but we had willing hearts and people willing to give of their time and resources. The bonds of love and friendship have been immeasurably increased in our real estate office.
May your Christmas be as blessed as ours!
