Winter has arrived in Cleveland

I always anxiously await the first snowfall of the year, not just the dusting that can occur early, but the kind that makes my two Labrador Retrievers run like crazy outside and throw themselves into the ground.

While I am horrible at night time photography, no tripod setup, etc., I always have liked the softness of snow falling that is captured by the camera lens, as well as photographing some lights (these were just in my backyard.

Feel free to keep the snow for yourself.  This is one time when you don't need to share with the rest of us.

Hi Chris, It's been snowing off and on all day here and we are supposed to have snow all week.  It is pretty when it comes down, but by end of January or so I am always ready for spring.  Have a great week.

Gorgeous, Chris.  You are making me wish for snow...Real deep thick covering of it, and the myriads of flakes sparkling in the street lamps halos....

Hi Pat -- Na, I'm going to FedEx a whole dump truck to you!  It'll do wonders for your rush hour (I know...I used to live there and remember the 4-8 hour commutes home after 2-4" of snow) and the supermarkets getting raided of all milk and bread within hours, like everyone was going to be snowed in for 6 months.  Oh...the lunacy of DC.

Hi Gary -- Same here, I don't mind it at the beginning, but it gets old, my frustration usually arrived in early March -- but I hike all winter long with my labrador retrievers.

Hey Inna -- When it's fresh and covering the trees, and driving at night, it's magical, then reality sets in shortly thereafter!

Chis the first snow fall is beautiful, but I am not ready for it yet.  So for now I hope it stays your way :)

Hi George -- I feel your pain, we got 8" today and my snowblower blade is too worn down so off to the shop I go!

Beautiful pictures Chris.  We got our first real snow here in Indy too.  Amazing how year after year, that first snow still holds the same facination and wonder for some of us.  I have always said I will never leave th four seasons---of course I have also learned to never say never.  I no longer have labs or retrievers.  I do miss their joyful play in the snow---rubbing their faces in it.  Crazy, wonderful dogs!!  (My pugs don't mind the snow, but they do not seem overjoyed either :-))

Hey Pat -- Thanks.  Interesting point (and true) regarding the 1st snowfall.  I love dogs in general, and pugs are cool dogs -- I love their faces.  I think I would feel the same about snow if I were a pug! :)
