As fall approaches, it is a great time to paint your home.
I wanted to share with you a couple of ideas regarding painting the outside of your home and one product in particular that will help you out.
The first thing to look for in exterior paint is 100% acrylic when buying water based paints. Some paint companies offer lesser quality paints that are not 100% acrylic.
The next thing to look for is a high quality product that covers very well and protects the surface underneath. Some products are cheaper because they are watered down.
Next, if you have special needs such as cedar siding or bare spots, you should find a good exterior primer to cover those areas before painting over them. Cedar can bleed through paint if not properly primed.
Next, another special need you may have is mildew. Make sure you clean these areas with bleach or a mildewcide mixture to make the mold dormiant to prime and then paint over. There is also a additive called M-1 that can be added by the paint professional to help with mold problems.
Some other special need you may have is alot of direct sunlight. Make sure your paint has a good UV protectant in it to help keep your paint from fading.
I have good news for all of these items listed above. Many companies offer a new line of Lifetime products. Pittsburgh Paints is no different. We offer a 100% acrylic base that is self priming and covers in one coat. It has a built in UV protectant and mildewcide additive.
This product cost a little more, but if you buy these items separately, you will spend about twice as much as one gallon of our brand Manor Hall Timeless- http://www.pittsbrughpaints.com/
If you live in Knoxville, TN. I would like to be your paint guy as well as mortgage help.
