Pasadena Symphony Holiday Look In Home Tour and Boutique was a great, I had the pleasure of covering it for Crown City News this weekend.
The Women's Committee of the Pasadena Symphony Association hosted the 43rd Annual Holiday Look In Home Tour and Boutique this weekend. This year the committee of over thirty volunteers selected four unique homes, two in the historic district of San Marino and Pasadena, both originally developed by railroad magnate Henry Huntington. The Boutique, located at the Pasadena Convention Center, featured holiday decor, unique treats, beautiful purses and trinkets, wine and so much more.
For the minimal price of $35.00 Pasadena Symphony supporters stood in lines out the door for their moment to walk-thru these architecturally diverse masterpieces. I was fortunate to be guided by Committee Vice Chair, Laurie Turner, who provided insight on each home, past years homes and the significance of the Pasadena Symphony in our community.
The Library District of San Marino offered two styles from different end of the spectrum. One, a contemporary home built in 2007, the other a Spanish Colonial Villa. The Oak Knoll district of Pasadena featured two homes in the styles of French Normandy and French Country.
The surprise of the tour came to me when I stopped to ask Chris Adams for an interview for Crown City News, reporters intuition is great. Nancy Hardaway and her three girls, who are now women, have been coming to the Pasadena Symphony Holiday Look In Home Tour since 1983. Amongst their smiles and laughter they explained to me how the tour has been a part of their holiday tradition for over 25-years. Nancy said, "Its very important because each of us lives our separate life and its so hard to get everybody together so I think for that reasonits a special day." The Pasadena Symphony Holiday Look In Home Tour is much more than a fundraiser for the Pasadena Symphony, for some it is what brings their family together and kicks off their holiday season.
Proceeds from the Pasadena Symphony Holiday Look In Home Tour fund the Pasadena Symphony Classics Series and the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Pasadena Symphony's commitment to help bring music education and engagement to the San Gabriel Valley.
