Master Speaker Arlene Blum at the Green Council this Week**Wednesday, December 8th, 2 pm** Light refreshments provided by JMC Building Inspection Services

I am very excited, and somewhat in awe that we will welcome Arlene Blum to speak at the B.A.R. GREEN Council this week. She was recently part of the Master Speaker series at GreenBuild, the world's largest conference and expo dedicated to green building. She will speak about The importance of removing toxic chemicals from our buildings, especially in the forms of insulation and furniture cushioning. The impact of these chemicals is long-term, and did you know that we in California are particularly impacted?

Arlene speaks both with tremendous passion and authority, having a PhD in Bio-Physical Chemistry. She will share anecdotes of her involvement with the Green community in Washington DC, and her invitation to be part of the Greening of the Obama Administration. Arlene will also talk about her experiences of working with legislators to ban toxins from crucial products. She has the wonderful ability to crystallize the most technical material to a level that makes us all understand why it is important in our own lives. Arlene is founder and Executive Director of the Green Science Policy Institute here in the East Bay. She is famous as a mountaineer, and is the recipient of numerous awards, among them being selected as one of the National Women’s History Project’s 100 “Women Taking the Lead to Save Our Planet.” Members of the public are very welcome to join us for this valuable presentation. Admission is free for BAR members and affiliates. $10 charge for guests, payable at the door. Berkeley Association of REALTORS is located at the corner of MLK and Cedar Streets, Berkeley, CA.
