“You give but little when you give of your possessions.
It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.” ~ Kahlil Gibran
One Christmas when my grandaughter, Lily, was 3, she was the only small child at our gathering. Everyone was pushing their present at her urging her to open it next! She finally became overwhelmed and had enough and in a very loud voice said,”NO MORE PRESENTS!” Ah, the wisdom of a child!
These days, she has embraced the materialism that is all around and has quite a long list of what she wants for Christmas. We even made the requisite trip to visit Santa yesterday. And, I’ll admit I love presents!!!
But I do love the special times with loved ones and friends more than adding another candle or bath salt to the stash…. I’m busy planning some surprises… shhhhhhhh… don’t tell.
In 2007, I wrote a blog post about Sharing Presence rather than Presents! One of the commentors isued a challenge to share the Top 100 List of ways to share Presence….so I am asking you to share your favorite by logging into that post and leaving a comment!
Also please check out the information about a special project created by an inspiring woman, Cynthia Kersey. She wrote the wonderful book, Unstoppable. This year she has a very big vision to give back and make a difference in the lives of children by providing education. Just by going to her site and signing up for the additional information, a $1 contribution will be made in your name, but the project she has created is amazing. Take 3 minutes and listen here. Then help others and help yourself.
I hope you'll make lots of connections and make lots of plans to “be the gift” this holiday season.
Believe me, in terms of your quality of life and business in January… conscious thought to do this will be one of the best actions you could take!
