Willoughby Golf Club Stuart, FL Facelift - WILL IT STIMULATE HOME VALUES & SALES?

Willoughby Golf Club members recently voted to approve the clubhouse renovation at Willoughby Golf Club, located in Stuart Florida.  The focus of the proposed renovation will improve the dining and social events area, as well as the Lobby and Entrance way of the club.  The last time improvements to the club were made was over eight years ago.

Willoughby Golf Club, one of Martin County's premier private golf communities sits on 403 acres, consisting of Estate and Neighborhood homes, totalling 375 single family homes.  Willoughby Golf Club's lifestyle offers a beautiful golf course, tennis courts, lap-lane pool and fitness center. Its spacious clubhouse has several dining venues, hosts many charitable events and offers a variety of indoor and outdoor activities and 24 hour security. All this combined with a community of energetic caring members has made Willoughby "one of the best places to live in Florida" according to Links Magazine.

It's been a difficult economy.  Real Estate Sales in local gated golf communities in many states have suffered as a result of the economy.  The question remains, is this the time for renovation or is this the time to delay renovations until conditions stabilize?  A significant number of members believe we can no longer wait to start clubhouse enhancements.  They are of the belief that this "reinvigoration" will protect the values of the 375 homes in the community.

This is a tough call.  I'm on the fence on this one.  Renovation, rejuvenation and preparation for future homebuyers for gated golf communities is a step in the right direction.  But - will this attract the homebuyers of the future?
