Holiday Networking For A Better 2011

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Eddie Brown ~ FM Realty a Long & Foster Company/ Raleigh NC

Yearend Holiday Season usually means getting together with friends and family…(some you may not have seen in a while). It is also a great time to rekindle relationships which may have lost some its “umph” over the past few years.

As you are out mingling at parties and the malls, when you run into someone you know, use it as an opportunity to strengthen the relationship you have with them ... Using tried and true dialogues to gently remind them you are in real estate … “Training” them to remember you when there is someone they know who needs professional real estate advice.

No matter where you are …BE THERE! Stay engaged in the business and with your Book of Business and make 2011 a better year!

Here are a few dialogues to help you to get started…remember these are not meant to be “scripts”… (I HATE SCRIPTS) …They have to sound like YOU … so rewrite them in a way that fits your personality.

“Can I ask a favor? …..if you know someone who is looking to buy or sell a home, I’d love to help them. When you come across someone, just give me a call with their name and number, and I will be happy to follow up with them…will that be OK with you?”

“If you were going to sell or buy real estate, or if you knew someone who was …do you have a REALTOR that you refer business to? (If Not) Would it be OK if I add you to my real estate information list? With your permission, I will send you current data on what is really happening in our local market, not the stuff you hear on CNN, but what really affects you and your property values. I will try to only send information I know you will find valuable, not junk mail or recipes …. Would that be OK?”

I hope these help you to re-start your networking and prospecting fire …Also below is a commitment to make to yourself for 2011 …call it your “Prospecting Resolution”

I commit to portray a positive attitude every day. I commit to a minimum of 2 voice to voice or face to face contacts every day from my Book of Business. I commit to becoming their #1 source for real estate information. I commit to using dialogues, writing hand written notes, and personal visits. I commit to making prospecting a part of my daily routine. And above all I commit to having fun while working in the best industry in the world!
