RainCamp Houston: Humbled and Armed With Direction For 2011

Bill spent a good deal of time and effort putting together a great post about Raincamp Houston, which I attended on Monday (see below).

I was thankful that I got a chance to be on stage with Bob Stewart for 35-40 minutes while he interviewed me, and I was also super-thankful to Bill for posting the entire video (in three parts) below, along with an assortment of great photos.

Bill - I enjoyed meeting you Monday evening.  You are a gentleman and a scholar.

RainCamp Houston: Humbled and Armed With Direction For 2011

Wow! I was blown away by RainCamp Houston!  Both by the AR Staff and the amazing AR members in attendance that made this such a special day for me.   Some of their stories of overcoming this national market were inspiring!

Here's my Flickr RainCamp Houston 2010 Photos Link.  And, here's the link to the 3 Part Bob Stewart Video Interviews Jason Crouch On Social Media Success, Parts One Two and Three!

After 4 Years With AR, RainCamp was my Introduction to AR!

Before RainCamp, I was one of those "Appraiser" AR members that had been blogging on the AR platform since early 2007 and only knew the AR staff by the "Contact Us" button on the site.  I did know Brad Andersohn, now with Zillow, had been emailing him for years and that is the only real human I knew at AR.  From Brad's willingness to answer my questions and take time with me, out of the 190,000+ members, I was blown away by this fact.  I had emailed with Kerrie Greenhalgh before but hadn't connected her with a face.  I didn't know who Ben Kinney or Bob Stewart were....like, the key leaders or teachers within AR.  So, after being apart of AR since early 2007, RainCamp Houston was really my first introduction to the warm staff and leaders behind this awesome platform.

The Young and Older Experiencing Online Success!

Besides being greated so warmly by Kerrie and Kelly Pflugrath at registration, one of the first things that I noticed was how young the staff was at AR!  The teachers of the day, Ben Kinney and Bob Stewart, who were fairly young guys, yet they were making it happen online in terms of lead generation.  However, as I begin to talk with other AR members, some older, I began to understand how young and old were adapting online with some fantastic results.  I then begin thinking back to my local MLS Association and how that the Top 10 Agents in sales for 2010 were of some of the same age mix - some fairly young and some older and online marketing was a huge contributor to their success.

Humbled and Left With Clear Direction For 2011!

Yes, I was humbled.  As a real estate marketer, I already had my blog network in place and humming.  Facebook, Twitter, YouTube campaigns were all in place and humming as well.  Yet, with all of my knowledge and action taken, I wasn't achieving the results that Ben Kinney was up in Seattle WA.  Ben took the time to show us his setups online, the results he was achieving and how he arrived there.  He gave us the keys to blogging success for Google indexing.  He even showed us how to install an html page on Facebook.  I knew some about this and that, but Ben helped me see the "Big Picture" of how all of this works together, especially the power of Facebook marketing!  Yes, I went to RainCamp thinking I had this down, but after spending a day with Ben Kinney, I realized how much I didn't know, but left armed with clear direction for 2011!

Jason Crouch, Such A Giver!

RainCamp Houston would have been worth the drive from Baton Rouge just to spend the day with real estate broker and marketing expert, Jason Crouch!  I've been listening to Jason and Ken Cook's Social Media Edge on BlogTalkRadio off and on for about a year now and following Jason on Twitter and Facebook.  What I've learned about those that are successful in life is that they are generally "givers".  And, Jason is such a giver back in helping us understand marketing.   His Interview was most enlightening, see the video links above!  Photo Credit: Greg Nino!

Special Thanks To AR and AR Members!

I wanted to somehow say THANK YOU to Ben Kinney and Bob Stewart for opening our eyes with what's possible today online.  I was once again reminded at how absolutely amazing and exciting the opportunities we have at our finger tips in these times we are living in.  Special Thanks to Kerrie and Kelly for so warmly greeting us and answering our questions.  Also, special thanks goes out to Dallas TX Agent, Patricia Feager, Garland TX Agent, Karen Hallman, Houston TX Agent, MaiLan Ly Trinh, Humble TX Agent Keith Hebert, Lake Charles LA Agent, Marilyn Boudreaux, Houston TX Agent, Greg Nino, and Frisco TX Loan Officer, John Cannata for making the day so special for me!   THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!

And, Special Thanks To Kodak For Presenting Me With The Winning Kodak Zi8 Pocket Video Camera!

Thank you for doing this with me. I heard from lots of people that were very appreciative of the fact you were willing to get up there and share so much of what you are doing with your 'competitors'. To anyone reading your blog, this is no surprise!

(Had a blast with you, Greg, and John!!)

Hi Jason!  What a great recap he did of the camp!  I watched the videos and honestly would NOT have recognized you had I not heard your VOICE!  You look AMAZING!  Great job with the interview as well; as you already know, we have very similar schools of thought about blogging, which has been a major part of my business these last two years.  I had my best month in real estate EVER last month and $4M of the gross sales was directly from AR.  It's hard to beat those stats with any other website or paid advertising.  The investment--time, and when you use the information that you send to your clients ANYway, it really does help save that (time) as well.

BTW, the relocation package was a 'contest' that Adam Waldman ran in '08.  I am in the middle of re-doing mine (I really had NO earthly idea what I was doing back then!) so that I can put it to the true test.  My hits are nowhere near your numbers on the package but, the business is still coming from it.  Beefing it up should help.  We shall see!

Hugs to you and yours this holiday season.  I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
