Where I Work

Hi all, I am writing a small little blog on my office. Office

It is the standard office for here  anyway.                                                                                              It has a TV and VCR for playing our training videos, it has an Internet line, a phone, and a cluttered desk. I don't know how the Government got a cluttered desk in there, but none the less they did. Don't worry I had nothing to do with that. My desk is never out of order. If you believe that then Ill sell you some desert sand from the ocean, Ill even dive to the bottom and get it myself.

The picture is of my door. We share offices here as well. There are two office rooms inside with different companies in them. It is awkward at first because sometimes your competitor is in the same room conducting business in it. Could you imagine another company listening in on your day's schedule of viewings or upcoming deals? It is interesting at times.

They always don't want to ask, but they always do. "Whatcha got going on?" They aren't talking about life here because everyone here has the same life. The casual peeking into industry. We may not be on the same team, but we act as a unit. We eat together, help each other with workloads and such. If I have to mail a bunch of stuff out, I'll ask if they do too and we will all pile up and go to the post office together. It is like a friendly zone with imaginary lines.

The large wall you see outside of the building is called a "T" wall. It is a large concrete barrier that has sections sit side by side to deflect shrapnel in case one lands close. Our office is located beside one of the testing areas for airplanes in service, so it gets really loud at times when they are testing the engines and leave them on full throttle for 20min at a time. Then when it gets quiet again, it is back to normal. We time our phone calls according to the maintenance schedule! It is almost impossible to talk to someone with that vibration going through our office.

Sorry to all if I haven't been commenting on other blogs lately. It seems when I get done reading them and the comments I have to go.

Signing off from Iraq, MICKY

Hey, Micky!  I'm glad to see you posting again.  I can't believe the life you have over there!  I hate that you need the T walls and at the same time, so glad they're there.

Working with competitors is something I think most of us in this line of work have gotten used to.  Maybe a little weird to be so close, but it's nice in it's own way, too.

Stay safe, I thought about you a lot today.

(And MWA!!

If I could visit you brother, I would.  Interesting insight to your work area, probably much different than any of ours.  So about that desert sand...

Hey Micky!  Good to hear from you.  What a concept, having to have T walls to protect you.  I can't even imagine that...  I CAN imagine sitting near competitors though!  Some agents see everyone in their own office as a competitor.  Kinda sad, ya know?  Be careful out there and post again soon.  You are in all of our thoughts.

Sandra we get AFN here. The Armed forces Network so you can imagine how great of a channel selection we get here plus all over half the commercials are service related to topics that are relevant. Really poor acting and horrible commercials. They are so horrible that you actually remeber the content. Maybe marketers have it all wrong. Make commercials so porrly that people will never forget your product by the "D" rated actors!!

Chris I am going to check it out now.

Bob, Yeah the T walls are pain cuz they are always blocking the shortest route to anything you want to go to!!

Lisa, what a wonderful office environment that is when they are like that. Must be like a puzzle palace when woriking in those kinda places where your office mate is your enemy, you have to speak in code and place acronyms to your clients. Could you imagine?

Thanks a lot Chuck.
